Upcoming Xbox One Exclusives in 2015 / 2016 (10 Really Big Games!)

The Xbox One is pushing out some surprising new exclusives through 2015 and 2016. We see the return of classic franchises such as Gears, Halo, and Tomb Raider but we also see some amazing new intellectual properties from niche game developers. A lot of these games also have both strong single player and multiplayer components so they should have lots of longevity. Let’s take a look at the most anticipated upcoming Xbox One Exclusives. Rise Of The Tomb Raider http://bit.ly/AmazonRiseOfTheTombRaider Set after the events of Tomb Raider 2013, Lara Croft’s experience of the supernatural has been covered up by the organization Trinity. Rise of the Tomb Raider follows Lara Croft and Jonah as they search Siberia for the ancient city built by the Grand Prince of Vladimir in the 13th century, which Lara believes holds some truth behind immortality. In a race against Trinity, a well funded organization interested in the supernatural, Lara must survive against humans, animals, and the environment in order to find the truth behind the myths and become who she was destined to be.

The newest trailer shows what traversal features will be like in the new game. Lara is shown using dual Icepicks to ascend cliff walls, and jumping or leaping to catch adjoining walls. There are also returning elements of rapidly maneuvering through dangerous terrain, and having to platform between crumbling ledges and around explosions or debris. When out of danger, Lara will still be able to scavenge and craft, as seen by her making a crude bow, and killing an elk for supplies. Lara has to fend off assailants, and use her stealth takedowns from behind, and a new underwater takedown to defeat enemies standing near water. Combat has been redesigned with more options for stealth and sneak attacks. Lara can confuse enemies using the environment, hide behind bushes or in trees, or avoid combat altogether by climbing trees or traveling across roof tops.

The bow and arrow return fromTomb Raider. Options for multiple bows can be fashioned from specific animals and materials that Lara can hunt and salvage. Other weapons such as her pistol and climbing axe make a return, plus an added hunting knife for melee or sneak attacks. The game will feature a crafting system, allowing players to create items by scavenging materials from plants and animals in the game’s harsh environment. The in-game environment will include a weather system that both human and animal characters can react to and a day-night cycle. For example, to create a hardier winter coat Lara must hunt a wolf which only comes out during a specific time of day and specific weather condition. Lara can swim which will add to Lara’s mobility and combat tactics. Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition http://bit.ly/AmazonGearsOfWarUltimateEdition Gears Of War Ultimate Edition is truly the best option for Gears fans. Returning into the role of Marcus Fenix, a disgraced former war hero hero, players will blast through all three of original gears games in 1080p 60 frames per second with remastered Surround Sound. Gears has never looked or sounded better.

But there’s also tons of new content. There’s 90 minutes of new campaign content. New Xbox Live achievements, Concept art and digital comics unlockables. Movement has been updated with improved controls specifically programmed for the Xbox One. The latest features from Gear Of War 3 are added with Enemy spotting, multiplayer Tac-Com, and improved sensitivity customization. The multiplayer has been revamped with 60 frames per second performance, dedicated servers, skilled based matchmaking, and new game types. These new game types include Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, and 2v2 Gnasher Execution which can be played across 19 maps including all DLC and PC Exclusive maps. There will also be 16 unlockable Gears Of War 3 characters for multiplayer progression.

This should hold Gears fans over until Gears 4. Fable Legends Fable Legends is set 400 years before the events of the first Fable, in a time before the Heroes’ Guildwas founded. Heroes are common, but the people of Albion are only just learning what a true Hero can be. During this time in Albion’s history, an ancient artifact exists called “the moon on the stick”, an artifact that the children of Albion once made wishes to. The heroes in Fable Legends are on a quest to locate this artifact. Fable Legends focuses on co-operative RPG gameplay. Four heroes will face off against one villain online. Each hero has unique abilities, powers, and gameplay. But ultimately the villains control how the quests playout. The game focuses on interact with your teammates and NPCs.

There will be numerous weapons, looks, and armor to customize your characters. The game is based around five players: four heroes, and a villain. The AI controls the characters in the absence of a human player. The villain player controls the nature of the quest the hero characters embark on, such as where enemies will spawn, how aggressive they are, when the boss will come lumbering out of its lair, when to lay a trap to separate heroes from each other to thwart them. The villain earns points over time, which can be spent on units. It has been announced that the free-to-play version, once released, will rotate playable characters periodically, with the option to purchase a hero that you wish to control even when not available to free players. Unlike other games in the series,Fable Legendsis essentially a dungeon crawler and is very different from the previous games.

The player can customize their hero’s weapons, looks, armor, abilities and more. Like many other games in the franchise, heroes can also use expressions to interact with villagers. In the hub-city ofBrightlodge, players have the opportunity to partake in jobs, play mini-games and enjoy pub games. Once the player selects a quest, they are immediately sent out into the world. The game is intended to have a 5-10 year life-cycle, and will be integrated into the cloud features of the Xbox One. SmartGlass features will allow villain players to make their plan of attack before a quest.

Fable Legendswill be a “service-based” game, and as such will not support an offline play mode. Single-player-style quests accompanied by AI characters will be possible, but players will require a persistent internet connection and an Xbox Live Gold membership in order to play. Gears 4 http://bit.ly/AmazonGears4 Gears 4 is the first original game from Black Tusk Studios, the studio that has taken over the Gears Franchise. And it looks like they are making some big changes in the way the story unfolds and the characters involved.

We didn’t see Marcus Fenix or any of our old favorites from the old Gears games. Instead we see JD and Kait, two new protagonists. In the recent demo, they are exploring the ruins surrounding a decrepit mansion. The hunt is interrupted by a “wind flare” a vast cyclonic storm that spews lightning and gusts powerful enough to topple stone. After using an integrated saw blade in his firearm, JD cuts through a metal gate and the two take refuge. They pursue a beast into its lair and find an embryonic mass that splatters the JD with glowing goo. The preview setting is a dark castle with gothic influences. The area is very dark and players must use flashlights to illuminate certain obscured areas The planetary setting is a forested world overlooked by a pair of brilliant white moons. It appears Both protagonists are wearing Coalition of Ordered Governments armor which is interesting because as of the end of Gears of War 3 the COG no longer exists and niether do the locust or lambet races. The protagonists mention that they are changing from hunters to hunted.

This, along with the lonely wilderness locale and ruined setting, implies that the characters are originally called to hunt down the beast or den of beasts they encounter, a mission that may be military, civil, or informal. The game seems to focus more on cinematic elements and relate-able characters compared to the larger than life tough military guys from the previous Gears games. The pace of the game has also changed significantly, from a high octane action ride to a more paced out action game.

Gear 4 is scheduled for release in 2016. Sea Of Thieves http://bit.ly/AmazonSeaOfThieves Sea of Thieves is an upcoming MMO-adventure video game developed by Rare and published by Microsoft for the Xbox One. It’s actually a re-imaging of Project Dream, the original 1995 prototype for Banjo Kazooie for the Super Nintendo. The game may feature characters who were originally supposed to appear in Project Dream. Rare described the game as its most ambitious effort ever, as the player dives in first-person to a shared adventure.

Similar to other Rare games, it has a very stylized fantasy art style. The prospect of a persistent online multiplayer game is very promising and we hope to see Rare show new innovations with multiplayer. The game is scheduled for release in holiday 2016. Halo 5: Guardians http://bit.ly/AmazonXboxHalo5 Spartan-II supersoldier Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 returns in Halo 5: Guardians. Halo 5: Guardiansmarks the in-game debut of Blue Team, who will fight alongside the Master Chief throughout the campaign. In the beginning of the campaign, set eight months after the end of Halo 4, Blue Team will still be operating under the UNSC, although they decide to go AWOL soon after for an unspecified reason.

The second mission, “Blue Team”, has them investigating an ONI research vessel called Argent Moon, which has been occupied by Covenant forces. Halo 5: Guardiansalso features another playable protagonist, Agent Locke, a “legendary manhunter” on a mission to find the Master Chief after Blue Team disappears and several colonies are unexpectedly attacked. Locke is accompanied byFireteam Osiris, which includes SpartansEdward Buck,Holly TanakaandOlympia Vale. Locke’s role in the story is to act as a counterpoint for John-117’s legendary and larger-than-life character, as well as a vehicle to contextualize both the Master Chief and the wider story from an outsider perspective. Locke was introduced in Ridley Scott’s digital series Halo: Nightfall, which has narrative connections to Halo 5. Although he will be a prominent character, Locke will not be replacing John-117 as the protagonist but the Halo 5 campaign will alternate between both sides. There is a huge emphasis on the multiplayer modes of Halo 5.

The movement has been completely revamped. There are numerous agility features that will allow you to boost in multiple directions, ground pound, slide, charge, sprint, and zoom. There are 8 multiplayer maps with 3 different gametypes: Breakout, Team Slayer, and Strongholds. The multiplayer is shaping to be highly competitive. Halo Warzone is an all new mode with support for up to 24 players. The reason for the largerHaloteams this time around is because the levels, and the scope, have growndramatically, and they balance PVE and PVP battles. Combat starts with two teams of 12 starting off in their own respective bases, which are littered with about two dozen AI baddies. Kill those, and you unlock your base’s doors to the outside arena, along with the ability to buynew weapons and vehicles.

From there, the two teams race to be the first to rack up 1,000 points, and they have a few avenues to accrue them. The maps contains three control points in the form of bases; whoever controls each gets a few points per second. Bases are multi-tiered structures with lots of sneaking passages, stairwells, and corpse-littered funneling points, so keeping each of them locked down is super important Simply killing an opposing player nets a few points, while teamscan rack up serious points if they take out the AI-controlled “boss” characters hiding in the map’s dark corners. They’ve been designed to be real damage sponges, so it takes a big team to take down the bosses.

Halo 5 is scheduled for release Holiday 2015. Rare Replay http://bit.ly/AmazonRareReplay To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Rare brings together the adventures of its iconic characters in a collection that spans the decades. From its earliest 2D classics to Xbox 360 triumphs, Rare Replay delivers a gaming treasure trove for veteran players and newcomers alike. It’s 30 different games for $30 which is a huge value for Rare fans. And it’s not just games from the Xbox era, many of these games go back to the company’s origins on the ZX Spectrum.

Some of the biggest games include Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Killer Instinct Gold, Battletoads, and Jet Force Gemini. Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, and Perfect Dark will be ports from the Xbox 360 HD versions. Perfect Dark Zero and Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts will retain their multiplayer features from Xbox 360. The compilation also includes a documentary feature called Rare Revealed which has over an hour of footage describing the history of the studio and the development of several major games. It includes concept art and information about unreleased Rare games as well.

Another interesting feature is called Snapshots where players can play small segments of the game as challenges such as collecting a set amount of points in a set amount of time in a set scenario. Rare Replay releases in August 2015. Forza 6 http://bit.ly/AmazonForza6 Forza 6 includes up to 450+ “Forzavista” cars, along with 26 tracks from various countries, and also introduces two new features to the series, wet weather and night racing. The game is capable of up to 24 cars on a track, during either online multiplayer or offline single player. The career mode is stated to have been completely rebuilt and have more than 70+ hours of gameplay, but still retaining the ability to choose races. Included as part of the career mode are Showcase events, a feature that has usually been seen in the Forza Horizon series. These Showcase will focus on different events compared to Horizon, such as Autocross or endurance races. The game is stated to play at 60 frames per second (fps) at 1080p resolution, especially through wet weather.

Forza 6 releases this September 2015. ReCore http://bit.ly/AmazonReCore From the legendary creator Keiji Inafune and the makers of Metroid Prime comes ReCore, an action-adventure masterfully crafted for a new generation. In this desolate world, humans forge friendships with courageous robot companions and lead them on an epic adventure through a mysterious, dynamic world. The ReCore trailer introduces us to a young woman named Joule wandering a desert-like wasteland with her pet dog robot. A sandstorm kicks up, and the two are forced to take cover. When the storm ends, their shelter is mostly covered and they have to dig themselves out. The two are attacked by spider robots with red cores. We see Joule use her gun to shoot the evil robots and a grappling hook to pull the core out of another. Meanwhile, her dog companion fights to defend her and ultimately sacrifices himself, leaving only his blue core behind. Joule takes this core and puts it in a larger ape-like robot and the two head into a vault for more adventure.

At the end, we see Joule and different robot companions, all with blue cores. The fact that this is the Mega Man and Might No. 9 creator teaming up with the developers behind theMetroid Primeseries leads to an interesting new IP. The developers are tying to utilize their game world as a shifting, unstable landscape that players can look forward to exploring and at any time could get shifted underneath them. The discovery and exploration of the various vaults in the world appears to be the key to the story. Through exploration, our main character will discover what happened to humanity and she will find out if it can be fixed. ReCore is targeted for a Spring 2016 release. Cuphead Cuphead is one of the most unexpected titles in our lineup. The appearance resembles a 1930s cartoon and doesn’t even look like a game. Cuphead loses a bet with the devil and spends the game attempting to repay the bet. Composed almost entirely of boss fights,Cupheadis most reminiscent of the classic 2D side-scrolling run-and-gun titles of the 16/32-bit era, such asContraandGunstar Heroes.

With players using Cuphead and Mugmans jumps, dodges, and finger-snapping blasts to take out enemies, the gameplay is fast, frenetic, and extremely challenging, and all blends seamlessly with the games most striking element: its art style. Character animations are vibrant and incredibly-detailed, even down to the struts of Cuphead and Mugman moving and in their bouncy idle animations. Beyond the art and style, the game even uses additional effects to add to the games 1930s aesthetic, including projection flickers and a noisy filter to emulate the game appearing like it came off the reel from a dusty old theater. The game features a branching level sequence and is based around continuous boss fights. Cuphead has infinite lives and keeps weapons between deaths. The levels are accessible through an action RPG style world map with its own secret areas. There’s even local two-player co-op, where Cuphead and his partner Mugman run, dodge, jump, and shoot (by snapping their fingers, charmingly enough) to defeat the games various bosses.

Cuphead is scheduled for release in 2016.
