Ranger/Assassin Guide w/ Skills Alliance of Light: Ranger Description: One of the most versatile classes, rangers are a class based on evading the physical attacks of other melee classes while doing damage with daggers, claws, or reverse swords. They can also set traps, become invisible, transform, and disguise themselves to conform to a variety of situations. Rangers are also the only class that have the sprint skill that allows them to run faster either to travel or in battle. Many of these traits make this class invaluable in pvp as a support character that works behind the brute force and as a character that can solo in PvE without the requirement of a party. Builds: Most ranger builds are based on dexterity, strength, luck, or a combination of these three. Remember that with every level gain, rangers get 1 stat point into dexterity automatically. Dexterity is extremely important to a ranger because it affects the evasion rate and determines the amount of sp you have. Strength determines the base damage the character makes with each hit. Luck determines the chance of critical and how much it is. Take care that luck is step based in terms of criticals, and it might take a lot of stat points in order to see a huge difference. Common builds include: Str/Dex, Luck/Dex and full Dex. Rangers also get buffs that increase Dexterity and Luck, so you can take that into account when determining how to distribute stat points. Weapons: Rangers get a choice of 3 types of weapons: daggers, claws, and reverse swords. Daggers: fastest base attack speed (fast), increase damage with passive skill. Claws (also called knuckles): highest constant damage per hit (range of max-min damage is less, resulting in more constant damage), base attack speed is a bit fast, increase damage and increase attack speed with passive skill Reverse Sword: highest chance of critical (perhaps due to animation?), base attack speed is a bit fast, increase damage and increase attack speed with passive skill After passive skills claws/reverse swords attack at very fast attack speed. For passive skills, claws and reverse swords are grouped together as “Rogue Weapons,” so the passive skill applies to both weapons. The ranger epic weapon quest gives you a reverse sword. Skills Italics: category of skill Passive > Muscle Training: increases physical attack > Dagger Weapon Power Up: increases attack when using dagger > Rogue Weapon Power Up: increases attack when using either claw or reverse sword > Relax Body: increases restoration of hp, sp, and mp during a break greater than 3 secs > Evasion Ascent: increases rate of evasion for physical attacks > Backpack Upgrade: increases the amount of backpacks you can carry for your loot > Interpretation: understand what UoF is saying > Rogue Weapon Mastery: increases attack speed of claws and reverse swords Basic > Fatal Hit: basic attack skill, does base attack plus 10 damage. other skills can be activated during its recharge time. > Agility: increases dexterity for 5 mins (buff) > Sprinter: increases moving speed. unable to use stealth, transformation, and disguise > Big Coup: ignores the opponent’s dexterity during battle Combat Note: Ranger combat skills have to be used in a chain and in a specific order The chain usually goes something like this: Fatal Hit > 1st skill of chain #1 > 2nd skill of chain #1 > 3rd skill of chain #1 > 1st skill of chain #2 > 2nd skill of chain #2 > etc. examples: Fatal Hit > Halt Kick (chain 1) > Stun Crash (chain 1) > Tetanus (chain 2) > Aggravation (chain 2) > Slasher (chain 2) Fatal Hit > Halt Kick > Stun Crash > Halt Kick > Stun Crash If one skill misses, you can still continue the chain. The next skill in the chain must be activated before the recharge time for previous one is over. Longer recharge times for Fatal Hit means the longer you can go without using Fatal hit again example: short recharge time: Fatal Hit > Halt Kick > Stun Crash > Fatal Hit > Tetanus > Aggravation > Slasher longer recharge time: Fatal Hit > Halt Kick > Stun Crash > Tetanus > Aggravation > Slasher Three basic chains: Fatal Hit > Tetanus > Aggravation > Slasher (the damage chain) Fatal Hit > Halt Kick > Stun Crash > Phantom Assault (the stun chain) Fatal Hit > Drag Down > Venom Crash > Gruesome Attack (the debuff/damage over time chain) Which skills you get depends on what you want your ranger to do. It’s difficult to max out all the skills for all three chains (normal mode at least). > Tetanus: reduces physical defense of opponent while doing base damage (can critical) > Halt Kick: does fixed damage and prevents the opponent from casting spells > Drag Down: debuff skill. does base damage and reduces opponent’s amount of sp and mp for 75 secs. > Stun Crash: stun skill, does fixed damage and stuns opponent for 4 secs > Stealth: invisibility skill that lasts for 60 secs. unable to use Sprinter skill or run. Released if you attack or are attack. Renders you invisible to animals and UoF, people on AoL can see you. > Trap: sets an invisible trap that activates when opponent gets near a certain distance, does fixed damage. reveals people who are invisible if they step on it. > Aggravation: does base damage plus additional damage. can critical. > Venom Crash: poison skill that reduces hp of opponent over 15 secs Special > Incantation: party buff skill that increases luck for 10 minutes > Potential Nimble: passive skill that kicks in when you have low hp and increases rate of evasion and hit rate for 30 secs (physical attacks only) > Transformation: changes appearance to an animal (usually a chicken). released if you attack or are attacked. > Slasher: does your base damage and additional damage. can critical. > Disguise: changes your appearance to that of UoF. released if you attack or are attacked. > Perfect Positioning: increases critical hit rate and evasion rate for physical attacks for 30 secs > Mana Decay: decreases amount of mana an opponent has by expending all of the player’s mana. cannot be used against monsters. > Phantom Assault: base damage and stun > Gruesome Attack: ignores defense of opponent to inflict damage on opponent’s hp. cannot be used against monsters.
