Phailadin: Knight/Priest PVE/PVP Build

My highest level on my previous KP was 21/20 so I’m not the end-all authori-tah on KP’s. So if you have suggestions to add to make this a better PVE/PVP build feel free to share!

Introduction:

One thing you will never lack for in the great continent of Taborea is
a Knight of any class or caliber who is not willing to engage you in
lengthy dissertation about how botched and broken his aggro skills are.

One need not look hard to be witness to the sad and yet tragically hilarious
spectacle that is a Knight chasing after a Boss who is chasing after a Rogue or Scout.

It’s a common sight in parties and raid parties where the Knight is equal or lower level than the rest of his comrades. Humorous though it be, it’s a painful ding to the proud Knight.

For those precious moments when aggro does seem to work its likely because the Knight has to constantly and repeatedly spam his aggro skills devoting nearly all his attention (and mana) to it in fact.

Everyone says, tell your party to wait for you to build up hate but in many cases you may need help right off for higher level bosses and elites and for the rest most of time no one waits. Especially in raid parties. First time you hit the Boss, all of a sudden there are 50 fireballs and arrows heading towards the Boss’s meaty head.

A lot of people say, Paladins suck for "endgame" and PVP. They are out-DPS’d by…well…everyone. Well, maybe…maybe not. (Okay, they are)

With all this in mind for the poor Paladin I present to you the…Phailadin.
A PVE/PVP build for the discerning Paladin who doesn’t give a crap about anyone but himself and when he has to join a party is happy to settle for offtank at best.

Knight:

Secondary Skills:

Resilience: Max (Passive Stam Boost)

Defense Skill: Max (Passive Block rate increase)

Devotion: Max (Passive mana increase +15/level)

Primary Skils:

Resolution: 2/3 or Max if you can spare the TP.

Chain of Light: A good pvp skill for locking down those pesky kiters. If you want to upgrade to multiple locks you’ll have to upgrade your Charge skill though.

Elites:

Holy Light’s Fury: A powerful DoT for Kni/Pri. Might be worth pumping 2/3 or Max of level.

Priest Secondary:

Regenerate: Max

Magic Barrier: Max, (especially useful if you’re using plate armor)

Rising Tide: Don’t upgrade Rising Tide but use it as a Puller. (For Pri/Kni maxing Bone Chill is the best bet for attack IMHO)

If you want to develop your Priest Primary I suggest for starters upgrading:
Heal: 1/2 – Max of your level depending on how much tp you have to spare
Grace of Life/Enhanced Grace of Life: Max, you get Enhanced Grace as level 15 elite. This makes Grace add hp+mana to all party members. But you can only give to party members now. If you want to give it to a random
person, invite them to group first, buff them, then leave the group.
Amplified Attack: Max
Bone Chill: Max

Before you go crazy spending TP on Priest skills make sure you have enough to keep Magic Barrier and Regenerate maxed. Instant Heal when compared to Regen and when you take into account its not actually instant, isn’t worth the TP. Wave Armor doesn’t scale well. Don’t spend tp on it. Regenerate actually works better.

Upgrading Disarmament increases the stackable armor debuff and slightly increases the percent of main hand damage. Without upgrading it at level 0 only costs 20mp, instant to spam 40% main hand dmg, nearly half your mainhand repeatedly. Disarm FTW!
Disarm may seem like a lot of mana use at a low level but as you progress and level your priest as well, disarm spammination will hardly even make a dent in your mana pool.

For PVE and PVP I prefer 2-H Hammers. Not only are they plentiful but the do enormous amounts of damage.

For PVE it’s a pretty good solo leveler and a decent off-tank. When fighting higher level mobs or Bosses, throw regen and EH on yourself when you start the fight.

For Bosses and Elites, fire off your Resolution to start with, along with regen and EH. Spam Disarm in between your slow weapon swings. Holy Light’s Fury is a good way to keep damage in the mix as well.

For PVP you’re probably going to want to close the gap on the kiters, use a chain of light, get close throw Holy Light’s Fury on them and start swinging and spamming Disarm. Letting a Kiter or a Mage play keep away with you and fire off continual damage is a quick way to die. Span the gap with KP’s 30 Elite, Free Will (no slow/fear for 10 seconds), Holy Shield (10 min) then Chain of Light to glue their feet to the ground and punch them in the face. Don’t play catch me if you can with a Scout or a Mage.

Mages will often try to kill you right off by casting their 10min (instant casts) right off the bat. You can mitigate this by using Holy Aura (5 seconds of no damage) and Magic Barrier.

At some point you probably will want some aggro skills. You should have spare tp to pump into Shield Bash with this build and since the 1806 patch fixes aggro/cost on Shield Bash its safe to put tp into this.

Update:
As a 37/22 Kni/Pri my current build has matured thusly:
These are the skills I’ve spent TP on. All other skills not
noted are 0 or default: max

Enhanced Armor: 25
Defense Skill, Devotion, Resilience: 37 (current max)

Regen: 21, Magic Barrier: 20

Shield Bash: 28, Resolution: 20, Holy Light’s Fury: 35 (this starts getting tp expensive)
Charge: 20 (at 20 it unlocks chain of light rank 2, at 30 it unlocks chain of light rank 3 at the req. level)
Shield Mastery: 20, Hatred Strike: 15
