Alright I’m constantly seeing a lot of Esper related questions about its auto grind functions so I am making this guide to help everyone all at once. The Esper is actually quite simple to use. And using it right can save you a lot of time and Spirit.
Note: This guide was written Pre-Level 30.
Part 1: The Basics

First of all, the top skill bar is where you stick your character skills, things like heavy blow, etc. The second bar is where your esper skills are and where you put items that heal you when you need it.
1 Is your HP recovery items. You can use the beginner dew that you get here.
2 Is your SP recovery items. I recommend sticking something here unless you want to auto swing kill stuff.
3 Is your Espers energy recovery items.
Part 2: Configuring your Esper
In order to get to these options, you must click the open palm hand on the right of your Esper character skills, as seen here:

So now the options:
I’m splitting this in sections to explain each section at a time.

Section 1: The esper will automatically recover your hp or sp once it falls under the specified percent. If you have recovery items that will heal your HP to the max from say 30%, you should set it to 30% to get the best use out of those items. The same for SP items.
Section 2: Sick of your Esper filling up your inventory with 2 copper yarns or other crafting materials with near to nothing? Well there’s a solution. You can check the Only Defined box and on the right you can type in item names and click the -> looking arrow near the box, the Esper will only take items defined here, making it so that you can fill your inventory with the good stuff. Sure you might just miss out on a rare, but whos to say your Esper will even pick it up with your inventory full of talismans?
Section 3: Using skills. Take note, I’m writing this pre 30 and my main skill is Heavy Blow. Simply put, the lower the number next to the skill, the more often the Esper will use that skill. So if you want to conserve spirit, you can make your Esper skill have a value of 100,000 like I did, and put your heavy blow to 1. This way your Esper will only run around one hitting mobs using heavy blow (considering your character can one hit them) making it very spirit friendly and fast. I’m sure after level 30 and heavy blow becomes nearly useless you’d have to configure this much more advanced based on your skills, but until that time comes, grind it up!
Well there you go, small but explanatory. I hope this helped you set up your esper and helped you understand them a bit more.
In the time I wrote this I went from level 22 to 24, woo.
Credits go to Shredon.
