Thread: Rec Oracle Vs Int Oracle

    Rec Oracle Vs Int Oracle

Well I'm only a few levels from UM, and I haven't been able which to make yet. With a rec oracle I won't be squishy in pvp and can heal/tank/etc. With an Int oracle, would do crazy damage... but I'm assuming they would also die fairly easy.

Anyone who has experience with these two build have any suggestions?

it depends on what you mean by a rec oracle and int oracle. If you mean pure rec then yes he wont take hardly any damage from a fighter but a mage would win easily against him as his damage would be so low and he wouldn't have much magic resistance, also pure rec heals=crap, if you mean a more balnced build like 6 rec 3 wis (+ the addintional 1 wis every lvl ) then he could heal a bit and still not take too much damage from melee or magic classes. I am doing something more like that with my UM. MY hm priest was int/wis and pure int would do alot of damage to a single target with magic spot but he will lack the traditional magic resistance making him rather vulnerable in battle, also with only 1 insta cast aoe you have to focus on individual targets rather than being able to aoe whole groups like a mage can

<edit> oh and one last thing is the UM insta heal skill will be pretty useless with builds lacking wis

Well I don't think I would go full rec... was thinking something like +4 Rec and +5 wis, which would give me good defense and heals/magic resistance. For Int build though, I don't know if it would be best to go full int, int/wis, or int/rec. Oh course int oracles can't heal... and usually let the party know that up front. Too many choices to make but I guess it comes down to whether or not I want to heal or attack, lol.

    8 rec 1 wise

Get noble set of armor and a noble knife

    Link lvl 4 rec, lvl 4 hp and 3 lvl 4 wise ( try lvl 5 )

So thats upper and lower armor, walkers, muffles and the knife.

Um fighter will hit you for 80 dmg, while black mamba for 400 crit max.

U will self heal for about 190-210 so u will be immortal. And u will be able to kill archers and rangers with magic spot.

So u dont have to worry about nossed archers cause they wont do shijet to you

I tried it and pulled it to 11k kills I died 7 times and thats because i got rapped by 20-30 at a time O.o

Honestly I think it comes down to what you want to do, heal or attack and I'm sure you realized that already.

However, I wouldn't base your decision on just REC. If you want to heal, then go the WIS/REC route. If you want to attack, go the INT/WIS route. I think either way you'll survive just fine, of course the first build will have a easier time surviving but with the INT build just lapis in some life into your armor and you'll be fine. Personally I think its more important that you enjoy your build rather than just survive.

INT priests can still heal with Recovery. It has such high base that it'll make a notable difference, even if you have little to no WIS. Of course you can only use it every 30 seconds, but your job is to attack anyway so that is just a nice little bonus.

In the end I would vote for INT/WIS because Battle Priests are sexy and different. You will be able to pvp/party/solo/quest, letting you experience all that shaiya has to offer, which is what I would want to do if I ever had a UM character- be able to do a little bit of everything without having to ask for help from others. But again, its all about what you want to do.

I think that WIS for magic resistance is not so much an issue for Oracles, if you play them well, since Magic Protector and Magic Mirror (maybe it's worth the skill points then) can give you big Magic Res when you need for quite some time.

And playing a Battle Orc/Priest is really fun - especially in 1-15PvP, because you dont lack the numerous aoes compared to a pagan/mage at lvl15, while you have useful buffs and Magic Protector.

Even if it is different a little alter on, I recommend that you try all the builds you are thinking about in 1-15PvP and see what you like the most, and continue playing with that toon. And on lower lvls REC gives you quite a lot of Def against melee attacks, my HM Orc was with REC/WIS build, def and rec lapis, a great bait for fighters, rangers and mages alike wasting their mp on me - yet you sometimes wish you could hit back if you're party members dont pay attention to your well-being. But with a lot of MP you can also spam magic arrow enemy healers and keep them from healing, what I usually do when there is no1 who needs to be healed.

Against a high REC and pro a WIS build at higher levels is though, to use Potential Motive, something I sometimes used really succesfully: simply use HA as soon as your down to 25%, and you have spells like recovery and Instant Heal for 30secs - if you do it right you can keep everyone alive, no matter how much they r under attack - Instant Heal lvl3 heals as much as Healing Prayer lvl2 with no cast time, but drains your mp.

Hope to have given you some clues, and if you made up your mind and playes things on UM, I'd appreciate it if you could share your experience, coz I cant make up my mind about UM Orc, either atm.

That sounds quite interesting... thanks. My only question is did you use that build to attack or heal others? It says you can kill archers/rangers, but do your party members expect heals from you? lol

    you dont

and i would disagree with what he says, with 1 wis each lvl mages will hit you pretty hard even if you lapis more in the fighters wont hit hard true, but any one on nos will always hurt alot

While this is true, he does have the advantage on his side that, especially in large PvP conflicts, mages will see priests and expect them to have lots of magical resistance and so not target them so much.

Although it is dicey... in confused melees or duels it won't help you. Plus, as has been said, your heals will be terrible, and the No 1 role of a priest in a party is to heal.
