Okay so just hit 16/16 W/R and...elite skill useless?
I am specced into warrior specific 1H tree(probing attack - soft spot - thunder). I find that i dont use shadowstab at all now that i am dual wielding and have more than sufficient rage to use my rage dependant skills, and they do more damage(a LOT more).
It seems kind of wasted to me. Anyone else feel that this skill would be better placed in the rogue primary side so that we can dual wield 1H swords when leveling our rogue side?
nope, its fine how it is. When you reach later levels you will find out that almost all the elite skills are useless .. i mean i like the speed one.. but yaa.. because i like running away from shit..
LOL weak... 2h do Way more than dual weild. atm...because ur skills hit for more. and Shadowstab is another dot... so ya ur losing out on even more dmg... only gimpin yourself more.. and later ur going to find out that u cant just do Surprise attack, blind stab, then probing attack -> soft spot -> thunder -> probing attack -> soft spot and target be dead... ur going to need more dmg. (if ur atkin targets urlvl/+). Also in longer fights like bosses. u need a constant flow of dmg. Thats where ur energy bar comes in, to let ur rage build up.
The cooldown on thunder and conditional usage of soft spot make it a non-spammable combo. I'm not saying its bad, but you cant rely on it 100% for that reason. Which is why I am specced into Slash and Shadowstab, because while thunder is recharging i am laying down ridiculous DPS and DoT and once my attack speed boost kicks in from the rogue secondary skill, i'll be a DPS machine. Oh, and also, if you dont spec shadowstab there's basically nothing to spec into rogue except the dodge and attack speed skills.
Not useless at all, depending on your play style. The 1H attack tree is quite a TP Drain, and when it doesn't stick due to enemies being higher level than you, Shadowstab works very well for extra damage.
I'm not much higher level than you with my R/W, but I think some of the later Elites are worth it.
However, don't bother using Surprise attack that often, since it's only available before combat. Your Throw can now slow the target thanks to your R/W elite, and I find that's a better starter. Surprise Attack is only good against humanoid monsters and in PvP, imo.
later on the dual softspot trick will be added to with a 35 elite keen attack.
no need for blind stab unless its a named foe. thunder is garbage dont invest into it its a total waste of tp same with blind stab. i only use thunder if i need to run, so basically i never use it.
the thing with this combo is the conditional attack of probing and softspot. there are many ways to impeed this combo so knowing what to expect plays a big part in it as well as the ability to switch tactics.
if i know im going to be stuned, and most typically the mob will do it right before probing finishes recharging, causing Vulnerable to drop and closing my window for dual soft spot (beetles do this lots) i will focus on dual bleeds spaming shadowface and slash and wait to use probing / softspot right at the end with out the dual soft spots.
if i get interupted unexpectedly droping my Vulnerable before i softspot i will imedietly pop aggresiveness and slash shadowface it dead.
this will end it fast on cloth casters. the reason we use throw and or suprise attack before agresiveness is as soon as you enter the in combat state you stop loosing rage over time. if you didnt use throw or suprise attack before you used aggresiveness you would imedietly loose rage and not be able to open your combo with probing. opening with probing means in 4 seconds the caster will be dead and 2 of those seconds he was knocked down.
"shadowface perfection" your first shiny skill and its one of the best in the game.
"speed up" for pvp to get you in range for suprise attack against kiter types.
"blood dance" be wary of any skill that requires a health loss.
"frenzied attack" hells yes use this.
"keen attack" like a doughnut its sweet.
i probably missed something but i dont want to be too long winded so happy hunting.
