For all you lovely little starting yoyoers out there.
First, let me begin by saying that this is NOT the only way to level an acro. This is simply what is decidedly the fastest and most effective way to do it.
This guide is aimed at yoyo acros turning jester, as somewhat of a pre-guide to Ray’s Jester guide. So as much as I adore you little Bowjesters and your zany, arrow shooting antics, I’d appreciate it if you kept the "yoyos suck" comments out. I’m not using names, but some among you are very ignorant and can’t read guide titles.
That being said.
Welcome to the most insane, mind numbing 1st class option you could possibly decide upon. You’ll often feel like giving up. I know I did. That’s why I’m doing this. To make things go as smoothly as possible for you. Yoyo acro can be a fun, fun class if you work it right. And the later skills can just be downright insane.
Starting out as a yoyoer.
For all intensive purposes, I’m going to assume that you’ve already done the class change. If you haven’t, and don’t know how, you can figure it out. Otherwise there’s a sticky that tells you how to. It’s not that hard to find at all. So if you’re not a level 15 acrobat yet, go have fun with your vagrant. I’ll wait.
Done?
Lovely.
The most asked question, one you’re probably thinking right now. "What should I do with my stats?"
I’ll tell you this right now. Melee is absolutely USELESS at your level. To hit anything, you’d have to go full dex and do sh!t for damage. Not to mention zero stamina. That equals you being dead, and we don’t want that. You’re happier when you’re alive. And less inclined to nag about it on the forums.
Soooo… I’ll give you the most effective first build.
————————————-
Raise str and sta at a 1:2 ratio until stamina is 40. This will not take long. 40 stamina is all you’ll ever need as an acro and as a jester. Yes, even for skillspamming. You’ll be chugging the fp pots faster than a college frat boy, but you won’t have to spend 30mil on a restat. You’ll thank me later.
Yes, I know, if you do this, your damage will suck for a few levels. Just keep going. Around level 20, when slowstep is level 8-10+, you’ll have mercs asking you if you’re hacking.
Note: For those of you that would want to go skillspam jester, for god knows what reason, go ahead and pump the sta to somewhere between 60-90. I warn that you’ll level slower than ANYTHING when you’re a jester with that, though.
Anyway, at this point, to level, you’ll be skillspamming slowstep. It’s a very decent attack for your level. Learn to love it, you’ll use it for a good 15 levels. Also, don’t forget to take the time to level pulling.
———————————–
Level 20: Some of you will think Fast Walker is hard to level. If you’re going to think about quitting now, just stop yoyoing right now. Snitch will drive you crazy. You’ll likely have sta around 40 by now, so focus your str up to 40.
———————————–
Level 30: By now, you should have sta and str to 40 by now, and all your other points should be going to dex from now on. You can also stop slowstepping now. Xline severely outshadows it. If you want to save money on pots, you can always alternate xline and slowstep, but I don’t reccomend it.
Don’t worry about leveling DI right now, you’ll level it enough at 35.
———————————
35: Ahhhhhh, snitch. This skill will make you cry. You will want to quit. Generally speaking, the best way to level it is to use it once per mob, at the beginning of every battle. You can level it easily enough by 50 like this. Sadly, you can no longer level it on catchers. But you’ll live. This is also how you’ll level DI.
———————————
40: Counterattack. All your hard work is now going to pay off. You can split into two methods of leveling here.
1: Continue skillspamming with xLine.
Or.
2: Use the Counter -> attack 5 times -> counter method. This is perferred, and cheaper on the FP pots. If you don’t have snitch at 10 yet, you should soon.Aside from getting perfect block, nothing happens here. You should be steadily approching your goal of 91 dex. You’ll feel the urge to melee now. If you DO melee, only do so with an assist.
————————————
45: Aside from getting perfect block, nothing happens here.
Also, if you haven’t invested in a cruiser or hyper set, please do so. And upgrade it as far as possible. It WILL last you to 90. And your jester crits will be insane.
————————————
50: All your snitch leveling will now pay off with Deadly Swing. It’s a crappy skill, but you still need to get it to at least 4.
If you want, instead of using counter -> attackx5, you can now use counter->DeadlySwing->attackx3. It’s an easy way to level it.
Note that going from 50-60 is hell. Even for the best of you. Just stick it out. You’re close to achieving your goal.
————————————-
60: You made it, congrats.
My only advice is bring an RM to Venel with you. You’re going to need it. He’s not easy to counterattack. You’ll probably die a few times. But it’s worth it. Have fun.
A note to leveling after 60: Yes, I realize that at most you’ll have about 80 dex at this point. Relax. You won’t RELY on the 91 dex aspd point or anythingfor the next five levels anyway. YOu should be able to get to 91 dex by level 65-66 easy enough. And that’s when you start to crit on every hit anyway. Just go with it. Leveling your jester only gets easier and easier as you get higher.
——————————-
Your skills
Note: I look at skills from an entirely pvp standpoint. As a yoyoer, you probably do too. Bow skills are excluded for more than obvious reasons.
Mmm, disclaimers.
I’ll do the top row first, then the yoyo chain skills.
Pulling: Most of you will find this utterly useless. However, if you have some time, level it past ten. It becomes fun and useful. You’ll see what I mean if you level it, but it’s by no means a necessity. Level it to 3 as necessary, past that for a laugh or two if you want.
Fast walker: Again, you’ll think it’s useless. It’s not. Fast walker at level 10+ grows exponentially more useful as you climb higher in levels. Most classes will run around wildly once you DI in the arena. If you cast FW on three, then DI on two, you can catch these guys without any problem. If it’s past level ten, you can outrun a BP/RM with mastered quickstep. Level it to ten to ensure you’ll never have to chase someone for more than two seconds, past that if you want to impress everyone with how
flippin’ fast you can run. ZOOM!
Dark Illusion: In most mage’s opinions, this shouldn’t be allowed. I say screw dem nubs. This is one of the essential skills as a yoyoer. It garuntees a first hit in pvp, which is crucial against some players. (Ask Longknife. xD) People will tell you not to use it. Don’t you dare listen to them unless they’re an acro too. I recommend leveling it to at least 10, which is easy due to snitch.
Perfect Block: PB is entirely useless in pvp, as it doesn’t block skills. However, it’s extremely nice to have in leveling. At max, it adds 20% to your block rate. If you tack on a decent cruiser, +6 or higher, you can effectively block 1/3 of all mob hits. (If you follow my suggested build, that is.) Mastering it is nice, but not absolutely necessary.
YOYO SKILL TIEM. HOORAY.
Slowstep: This is probably the most overlooked yoyo skill. If you use it to skillspam enemies in the beginning in the same way bow users spam JA though, you’ll have it to ten very soon. A 50% chance at what is basically a five second mastered sneaker is insane. You’ll be hit maybe once per two mobs due to knockback. If you do nothing but skillspam this until level 30, you’ll have around a level 15-16 slowstep. If you want to master it, go ahead, every guild in existence will want you for CW, as it stacks with sneaker. Max sneaker + max slowstep = CW attack once a minute. As for pvp aplications, it does decent damage around skill level eight. I don’t know if the slow effect works in pvp or not, sneaker doesn’t, so I’m not holding my breath. I’ll test it later.
Yoyo Mastery: This is seemingly useless as an acro, but useful when every hit is a crit as a jester. Go for mastery if you have time to add a good 120 damage per hit, otherwise cut it at 13-15.
Snitch: So much can and has been said about snitch. I have very little advice to give about it myself. It used to be that you could sit with a catcher and slap it once every 20 seconds. But now all you can really do is use it at the beginning of every fight versus a mob. Get it to 10 and never. Ever. Use it again. EVER.
Deadly Swing: I can’t say much about Deadly Swing. It’s not quite the reward for snitch hell that anyone would hope for. The DoT bleeding effect is minimal damage at best, with a very small probability of even happening. And the damage itself is subpar. Level it to four and then forget about it. The snitch rewards will manifest themselves later in the form of Enchant Poison. Bear with the sucky skills for now.
Crossline: Ah, stunlock. People will yell at you for spamming this. It becomes funny and mildly irritating. USE IT ANYWAY. This is your main pvp skill from 30-65. Spamming this to level until 50 will get it to 16-17, which is 1/3 chance of stun on each use. I fully recommend mastering it. At mastery it will do very nice damage, as well as a 40% chance to stun. You will be a pvp god. And you will need all of one stack of food per level. More money for FP pots. Hooray, money. :3
Counterattack: This skill is almost cheaper in pvp than xLine. Auto stun for six seconds is a lot, and it happens even at skill level one. The damage isn’t bad at all either. The thing is, a good pvper will know how to time this skill, so you’ll have to find a way to trick them into attacking you in counter. It’s not difficult to do at all. Counter at later levels becomes the best annoyance tactic for knights and eles ever.
Note: There’s a bug that makes the xLine stun negate the counter stun. Do not use the two skills in pvp together. The target will never get stunned and you’ll probably, well, die.
That pretty much covers it for skills. I could go into Jester skills, but I have to leave SOME reason to read Ray’s guide. :U
——————————–
Your equips through the levels.
Most of you know that green sets > regular sets. But I suppose I should go into how the effects will affect your leveling itself. :U
So, first, the 15 rares.
Weapon: Toy of Iblis.
Effects: Dex +2, ASPD + 10%.
I like the toy. It has a decent attack power for it’s level requirement, which makes Slowstep better. You won’t be using the effects if you follow my skillspam advice, but that’s alright. The thing is, the toy is dirt cheap. You could afford one easy enough.
Plus, it’s pretty. We like pretty things.
Armour set: Slepint/Stinger.
Set effects:
(2 pieces): +16 def, +3 dex.
(3 pieces) +36 def, +3 dex, +10%fp/mp.
(4 pieces) +36 def, +3 dex, +10%fp/mp, +10% crit rate.
Get three of the pieces at least, for the increased fp and defence. You’re not fast or strong enough to effectively abuse crits yet, so don’t bother. I reccomend getting the gloves, hat, and boots, since it’s just cheaper. Get an npc suit. Save your money for fp pots, you’ll need ‘em.
I suppose the tritrium yoyo should be mentioned here, albeit briefly.
If you’re LUCKY enough to get Serus hair before level 30, just sell it for a quick couple mil and use the money to buy crap you NEED. The tritrium yoyo isn’t worth it unless you want bragging rights. It’s a toy of ibliss without the +dex. Screw it, and move on.
Level 30 equips:
Weapon: Wheel of Wheelem.
+10% hit rate
+3% crit rate
Another rare with sucky effects, and this one’s not even pretty. However, it has decent attack power. If you can get one, go ahead, if you cave to choose between this and a layered/miragle set, get the set. NPC yoyos will do fine, and they look better.
Set: Layered/Miragle
(2 pieces): +20 def, +10% hp.
(3): +50 def, +10% hp, -15%fp/mp use
(4): +50 def, +10% hp, -15%fp/mp use, +10% aspd
Three pieces of the set are a must. The HP is nice, and less FP consumption = less money on pots. If you want to get layered/miragle suit, go ahead. More defence makes happy acros. And the miragle suit makes for happy flyff males EVERYWHERE. ;D
45 equips:
Weapon: Pully of Clockworks.
Effects: Not even worth mentioning.
They’re cheap. Just buy one for 500k. There’s no reason to not have one.
Cruiser/Hyper set:
(2): +55 def, +11% yoyo attack
(3): +55 def, +11% yoyo attack, -20% mp/fp use
(4): +55 def, +11% yoyo attack, -20% mp/fp use +40% crit damage
GET THE ENTIRE [I Have a Potty Mouth] SET. I can not stress it enough that yoyo Jesters abuse the +40% crit damage effect more than bow jesters do. A cruiser/hyper set will last you until level 90. And don’t worry about defense, you don’t need it. Defense is for pansy knights.
Optional acro equips:
The sets are basic. Anyone can get a set and green weapon. If you feel the need for jewelry and hax equips, here’s a short list.
Shineglasses: Who doesn’t want shines? You could use the +100 fp obviously. Plus they’re sexy and everyone will be jealous.
Plug+2: You’ll get one automaticly for the quest. There’s no reason to not wear it. +60 def is nice enough.
Gore+2: This quest is for level 20-30 I think. If you get it, go ahead and use it. I guess.
Peison+anything: If you want to be REALLY good, get yourself a Peison necklace. You can use all the FP you can get, really.
VigorRing+anything: More str = more skill damage. More skill damage = faster ownzing. Faster ownzing = <3.

PvP guide through the levels.
You’re a yoyoer, it’s best that you just admit to yourself that you chose yoyos because you want to own in pvp. It’s easier that way. So, here’s a list of tips to win more often in the lower levels of pvp.
15-29 bracket:
Vs Mages: Unless your slowstep is level 10+, good luck. Mages hit hard and will most likely kill you in one or two hits at this level. Don’t worry, you become near invulnerable to them later.
Vs mercs: A dex merc iseasy enough to kill, sta builds will probablty gove you trouble. Just spam slowstep and hope for the best. Try to start the duel far enough away from then that you have room for your attack to be the first hit.
Vs assists: Use the same method as you would a merc. Your options at this level are painfully limited.
30-39:
Vs mages: Now you have xLine, it’s a whole new ballgame. Especially if you’re 35+ and have DI. From this point on, a mage class should not beat you. Just note that the smart mages WILL blinkpool. To counter this, have Fastwalker at level 5 or higher and cast it before you cast DI at the beginning of a match, you should be able to catch them before your invisability runs.
Vs Mercs: Dex mercs start sucking more and more, and sta mercs get harder and harder. Bring along FP pots and abuse them if you fight a sta merc. You can keep him stunlocked without really trying. As always, abuse DI.
Vs assists: Assists can try to outrun invisibility with qstep. Cast fw before your initial DI to counter this. If you can stun them, you’ll win. Watch out for stone hand though.
40-60:
Vs Mages: Your tactics should remain unchanged versus mages, They’re no problem at all.
Vs Mercs: This is where you can REALLY annoy those sta merc types. Use counter, most of them will walk right into it. Sadly, there’s no "quick" way to kill a sta merc. Not yet, anyway.
Vs Assists: Most assists will use burst crack in pvp. Burst crack is slow enough that you can counter it with little trouble. Note that if they get you with stonehand, you’re probably done for. Just be careful and you should beat them with little problem.
