[Introduction]

This is supposed to be a general walktrough on getting a lvl 65 yoyo jester with ease and fun. I know there are previous contributions of this kind in the acrobat forums, but i find that most of them are inaccurate as of Version 7, where you dont have to level skills by casting repeatedly, but by using skill points. Basically I sat down and analysed my progress during the levels, and I think i have a few decent pointers for people new to FlyFF. Altough this is meant for levelling a Jester, I think that some parts can be applyed to other classes or builds. Honestly, I don’t care if this gets stickied or not, I just felt like sharing my experience, even if only one or two people will ever read it. And if it does, I did quit the game at that precise level, and will not be updating it, ever, which will probably make it obsolete very soon. But enough of this introdoction, and on to the guide.

[The Beginning - Vagrant]

- Stats / Skills

I’ve had multiple vagrants, and the build that i think is best is as follows: add str and dex at an equal ratio, until around 25 dex, when you reach your aspd breakpoint (I’m assuming you use swords, have never tried axes). Once your aspd leaps, go pure str all the way to level 15. If you have doubts, you can just use a pure str build, its just about as effective. 15 sta is all you will ever need to kill mobs 1 or 2 levels higher, assuming you dont go greedy on food.

One thing is crucial: do not, no matter what, invest skill points into your vagrant skills. Yes, you do get a free reskill at level 15, but unless you are willing to pay real money for another one, it will be mandatory for the progression of your character later on. As a note, the free reskill will appear in your inventory after the job change; it looks like a scroll and has no description at all. It cannot be banked or traded, so stick it in the deepest corner of your inventory, where it won’t be in danger of you clicking on it by accident (double clicking it activates the reskill). Save it for level 60, when you will want to restructure your whole skill tree.

- Levelling / Quests

Now, getting to level 5 should be easy, and at that point you can do Losha’s quest (the lost puppy is far to the north, past the PukePukes, in the area where Grownup Lawolves spawn). It will give you 15000 Penya, which is enough to buy all the weapons, armor, and shields you will need for your vagrant days, and whatever food or repairs you will need. After you get geared up, just fight monsters that you can kill efficiently (1 or 2 food items per monster). If you go for things 3 levels or more higher than your level, and only have basic equipments, you will get more xp, but your killing speed will suffer too much to make up for it. As for quests, all you can do are the office quests, which give decent xp and a bit of money to ease your transition to the first job.

- Money / Items

Another thing, unless you want to run around buying drops from random people, or making alts to farm them, find out the items you need to become the class you want (for an acrobat – 10 twinkle stones from Aibats, 5 peakyrinds from Peakyturtles, and 1 slain from Lawolves). Do not advance to tougher monsters until you have these items, because at level 15 the drop rate will be so low it would take you hours to get them yourself, and wasting your money to get them from other people is not fun.
If you get + items or items that add attributes like str dex or sta from monsters, feel free to use them instead of your npc gear, but do not go out of your way and sacrifice the defense of a lvl 13 armour for a +1 strength stated lvl 1 armour (its just an example).

[Low Level - Acrobat]

- Stats / Skills

Now that you are a lvl 15 Acrobat, you just had your stats reseted, and your points are free to redistribute as you please. Add 5 – 10 points to sta, and put all the rest in dexterity. Also, purchase a bow and arrows. It might seem paradoxal, since you are building for an yoyo jester. But, yoyos are extremely inefficient at dealing damage in the acrobat days. You will resort to using a bow for the duration of your acrobat life. Sure, you wont be able to use your fun yoyo skills, but the leveling speed is worth it.

First thing you do, is max your Junk Arrow. This skill will power up your levelling up to the speed of a mage, which is awesome. And remember, you saved that lovely free reskill from level 15, so you will be able to switch to yoyos at level 60 with no problems at all. Now, figure out how many points you will need to max Perfect Block at level 45. You get 3 points per level, so at level 45 you will have 132 skill points. 40 will go into Junk Arrow, 40 into Perfect Block. 8 into Pulling, 12 into Fast Walker, and 16 into Dark Illusion, which are prerequisites for Perfect Block. This will leave you with 16 points to spend in whatever you want. It hardly matters. You could add them to Dark Illusion, for more invisibility time, or to Fast Walker. They are by no means crucial skills tough, so put the points in whatever you find fun and maybe usefull. Do the same with all the points past level 45. You can even go into yoyo skills, altough there’s no real point to that. Just save enough points for max Perfect Block, and you will be fine.

About Bow Mastery, in my opinion, that skill is largely useless considering you only get +1 attack power for every level. But, since you will have some points left after maxing Perfect Block and Junk Arrow, you might as well max it, if you feel that you need or want the damage. Mastered, it’s +20 attack power, I guess it adds up with mastered haste, so I see no problem with spending skill points in it. Just not at the detriment of Perfect Block, which is many times more usefull.

Add dex each level, until you reach 92 dex. This should be at about level 40 – 45. If you feel you are dying a lot, add more stamina, but not past 40, which is the recommended cap for yoyo jesters. Remember, Perfect Block will help alot past level 45, and more dex = faster levelling. After you reach the 92 dex cap, add sta, until it gets to 40. From this point on, all the points you will ever get will go into str. The 92 dex will get you a base speed of 61% at level 60, and a 36% crit rate. The stamina should be enough to keep you alive; if you feel that you die a lot, consider upgrading your equipment, instead of increasing stamina and regretting it later on. When you reach 60, you will have a decent str to use yoyos with, and you will get there fast because of your high bow damage.

- Levelling / Quests

At about level 20, you will want to go to Saint Morning, and do the Lost Child quest chain (see the quest forums for more details). It will reward you with a nifty Gore Necklace +2, that gives you much needed HP, and also quite a bit of money and lots of XP. Do the office quests that you get. At level 30, you will want to go back to Flaris, and speak to Luda (the Vagrant gear salesman). You will get the Red Bang quest chain, which rewards you with plenty of XP, 300000 Penya, and a very good Mercenary sword which you can sell to other players (or use if you are a mercenary).

Soloing might have got you to level 30 with no problems, but if you want to level fast past this, you will have to seek out contribution parties. Levelling with a partener in an adv party will give almost twice the XP you would get by soloing. At this point you can enlist the help of a level 15 Assist, if you want to kill high level monsters, and need healing. Full Support assists dont really shine until level 25, when they get, and master (if they now what’s good for them) haste. At that point (level 40 – 45), you will want a FS with you at all times. But if you can’t find one, dont waste your time waiting, you can do well with a fighting partener too. Especially if it is a battle Assist, which is kind enough to buff you as well as himself. Fighting with a battle Assist in a contri party is the most efficient leveling method up to level 50 – 60. As a sidenote, treat any FS assists that team with you well. Share the drops evenly, don’t be greedy, and you will have lots of options at higher levels. Hog all the drops, and in time your bad reputation will spread, making you unable to find a FS at higher levels.

Not much more to say on levelling, just keep on grinding and doing Office Quests; other noteworthy quests are the Play Script quest and the Ivillis Dungeon quest, which both give awesome xp. The Ivillis quest will be enough to get you from level 45 to 47. Dont try to do the Ivillis Guarder part until level 50+, when you get your Plugs +4 (more on that later).

After level 50, there is nothing you can do except grind. And office quests, of course. Finish the Ivillis quest as soon as you get the plugs, and grind away.

- Money / Items

You will want to use Arek rings for the duration of your Acrobat life. Buy them, or keep your fingers crossed for a drop (I got lucky, with an Arek +2 and an Arek +3, from regular mobs). At level 60, either sell them and buy Vigor rings, or trade them for those.

You will probably use common sets until level 30, unless you find an affordable Sleepint/Stinger set. Also, npc bows will do just fine, and your Junk Arrow damage will be high enough as it is, so not to warrant you buying a green lvl 15 bow. Until level 30, your main income will come from office quests, and npc-ing drops. Unless you find greens, its pretty useless to set up a player shop, unless you’re going AFK and have nothing better to do with your computer.

Also, at level 30, you will want to go into the Mas Dungeon, and find the last room. There is a statue, around which 5 Vice Veduques spawn. They pack quite a punch, but have low hp. They give low xp, but the trick is, their drop rate is insane. Go there with an empty inventory (aside from food, arrows, etc), kill as many as you can, fill your inventory with drops (prefferably weapons, as they are more valuable), and blinkwing to town where you will npc them. You can get around 100000 Penya for each run, which is quite a decent sum. I reccomend getting about 1 million this way (including the money you previously had); more would mean wasting your time, as there are much better methods of making money later on.

If you found a few good drops, and you feel rather wealthy, you can try and get the full level 30 set. It adds +10% attack speed, which is awesome. But the body will cost quite a bit, and its not that common. If you cant get the body, i reccomend not getting the other parts, as the bonus for 3/4 is not worth it.

The level 45 set is a godsend, with its +40% critical damage. If you can get the full set, upgrade it as much as possible, as it is used up to level 90. I wasn’t lucky enough to track down the body, though (mostly because I was too lazy), so I settled for a full level 60 set. It is rather cheap, as yoyo and bow Jesters will use the level 45 set, and Rangers are quite rare. You don’t even have to get the full thing; 3 parts will get you +10 str, so you can just get the gloves, hat and boots, and complement them with an npc body. The level 60 set will give you a nice damage boost, so use that until/unless you can get a full level 45 set.

There is no point in investing in rare bows, as the level 15 and 30 bows are not that great, and the level 45 bow is insanely expensive (as it’s the weapon of choice for bow Jesters, and there’s quite a bunch of them). Npc bows will serve you well; you should start upgrading them to +3 with PD4′s from level 45 onwards, as you change bows too fast at previous levels to waste the PD4′s on them.

Hopefully, you will be level 50 pretty soon. This level is crucial for your future developement. At this level you can fight flying monsters called Rockepellers, for a (rather high) chance to get Plug +4 earrings. You can find Rockepellers, by flying to the Plane of Bubble; you will see the continent of Darkon stretching on the other side of the sea. Fly above the water at that point, and you will notice them. As a note, you should fight Captain Rockepellers only. Be warned, hunting Plugs can take hours, if not days.

Best tactic would be to press down your insert key by using a coin, or some rolled paper, press the z key for auto follow, and just select the monsters by pressing tab while the mouse is in the red box surrounding them. You will follow them and begin auto attacking. They are hardly a menace, if you have decent equipments, so you don’t risk losing much health or dying. Get a good book or watch TV while your character is fighting; when the monster dies, search for the next, lock on with tab and repeat the process. Statistically you should get 2 Plugs by the time your aviation level is 20-25 (taken from my, and other people’s experience).

These plugs give you over 90 defense each, which will help a lot. Get a pair and enjoy monsters hitting you for half the damage they used to, or less. Now, you can hunt for more than 2 Plugs. These will sell for quite a lot, which will fund your need for SProtects, rare equipments, cash shop items, or whatever else you want to aquire. Farming another 3 – 4 Plugs should give you a decent nest egg to build your character from (if there is one thing i regret is not farming more Plugs, since after level 50 your drop rate will decrease, making it impractical to say the least).

Another thing, you will also find another type of earring, called Demol. Also +4. They give a slight damage bonus, but are nowhere near as beneffical as Plugs (maybe for a bow Jester, that doesn’t get hit much, or a Satanology Psykeeper). As a consequence, they sell for alot less too. But they are good to have around for a bit of extra money, or in case you feel that you have so much defense, you might as well upgrade your attack (which is not likely tough).

With your newfound fortune, track down a Guardian YoYo. It is mandatory if you want good damage past level 60. The high damage, +10% aspd and +30 def make it immensly better than any npc yoyo. And on to the bright side, they’re cheap. Yoyo jesters are quite rare, so there’s bound to be an abundance of them on the market. Find out the right price, buy one, some SProtects to upgrade it as much as you can afford, and you’re set till level 75.

[The Conclusion - Jester]

- Stats / Skills

I assume you got to level 60, time for the much awaited second job change. Again, i will not get into the quest, as it would be a job for the quest forums. And then again, it’s pretty straightforward, just pay attention to the instructions, and you can do it yourself (like I did). As a jester, you will boast 4 times the critical rate you previously had.

Use your coveted reskill now. Max Perfect Block again, up the prerequisites as necessary. Get all the prerequisites for your Jester skills to a minimal level. Getting a level 20 Crossline is optional, depends on if you like to PvP or not. Counterattack is also very good, especially in bosshunting and pvp situations. Just level 1 will do though, the stun length does not increase, just the damage, and your points would be better used elsewhere. Max Enchant Poison or Enchant Blood; you can find a debate on which one is better in the Acrobat forums. You might feel tempted to add points into other skills, but do not do so yet. Save 30 points for level 65 when you will want to immediatelly max Critical Swing.

This selfbuff will give you 40% added critical rate, which along with the damage bonus you hopefully get from the level 45 set, will boost your levelling speed to one of the best. Even if you don’t have the level 45 set, the crit rate is just as helpfull, albeit you will do considerably less damage. With a maxed Perfect Block, Enchant of your choice, and Critical Swing, you are set for life as far as levelling is concerned. Mastering YoYo Mastery is optional, the damage increase is not that much, and all the points could be spent into usefull PvP skills like Hit of Penya, Back Step or Crossline.

- Levelling / Quests

Not much to say about the 60-65 push; your levelling speed will be a bit slow, due to the lack of the crit buff; what you need to know, tough, is that you can go straight to level 62 from level 60 by doing the Legendary Green Mantis and new Red Bang quest chains (again, see quests forum for informations). This will leave you with levelling from 62 to 65, on the monster of your choice (personally i went Spiders on 62, Cranes on 63 and Fishies on 64, but it’s up to you).

- Money / Items

Assuming you followed my plan, you either have the level 45 or 60 sets ready to use, and a Guardian YoYo. Swap the dex rings for str rings, keep your Plugs and Gore Necklace (unless you found or can afford a better one).

At this point you will have a solidly built YoYo Jester with decent equipments, and probably have developed a feel for the game economy, allowing you to make money by buying/reselling, or selling rare drops. As a note, I haven’t really discussed giant hunting; its pretty much a waste up to level 55+, as the items you might get are not that valuable. But feel free to try your luck. Also, it would be better if you would wait to complete your transition to Jester, as counterattack is very valuable in any boss encounter, and the level 65 crit buff helps your killing speed a lot.

[Ending]

I hope this guide has helped you smoothen your transition to a decently high level, where you will be ready to face all the challenges of the game; I don’t claim that it’s the best way to level; some people frown at the idea of using bows instead of yoyos pre level 60, but it seemed to work fast and efficient for me. I might be wrong on some points that would require extensive testing, but this strategy has worked fine for me, and should do so for you, unless you find a better plan to follow.
