VIII. How To Make Money For Your Ranger
Section I: What Is A Ranger?
"Rangers are a ranged based melee class that focus on using bow skills to damage enemies." Flyff Wiki
What this means in a more broad term is that Rangers are a class that use a bow, and skills that our bow uses to fight. We are mainly an AoE (Area of Effect: Damaging multiple targets at once) based class. We are also the fastest levelers in game being that we are the best AoE Class. Section II: Build?
Here is where all your answers of what Build or What Stats should I use for my Ranger will be answered.
There is only 2 stats you will use as a Ranger and from here you will alter them for your own Ranger and your own money needs.
The two stats a Ranger will utilize will be Stamina – Sta and Dexterity – Dex
Stamina increase 2 things.
-
-Total HP (Hit Points)
-Defense.
Dexterity increases Several.
-
-Hit Rate (% chance You Will Hit an Enemy)
-Evasion (Chance the enemy will miss you)
-Block (Chance you will block an enemies attack and take only 10% the damage)
-Attack Speed (How Fast You Hit)
-Critical Rate (Raises chance to do a critical hit, 10 dex = 1%)
(Dexterity also increases a Bow users attack. The amount of attack we get is low but it is ok. We get 2.8 attack per Dex point.)
Now sta is a capped stat opposed to Dex which is uncapped. Capped means we limit the amount of points we will put into it and uncapped means we will add till we can’t no more.
The real part of Dex we will be working with is the Evasion and Block parts. This is what will keep us alive as we level.
Now we know what Stats we will be using, so how much do we distribute?
Ah the age old question.
First Build:
Full Dex, Pure Dex, or xxx Dex
These all mean the same thing, it means you add no stats to Sta, Just Dex. Every Last Point.
Now this Build is definitely not recommended due to the fact it is very hard to play with. A Ranger while relying on our Block and Evasion rating to survive, we sadly, have the lowest block per dex compared to any class. Even a first job class as an Acro has more Block than us. Yup, that means when you change jobs we lose Block.
Now don’t let this steer you wrong we still are the best ^^
Due to the fact we lose Block we rely on sta to keep us alive until our Block Rate and Evasion become the best that they can.
This Build is plausible though by utilizing a +8 or Higher Set at all Times. The advantage now is a +8 Set will give additional HP and Block to help you survive this. Rather costly especially for a beginner.
Now Build Number 2:
30-50 Sta
Rest Dex
You may be asking why is there 30-50, Well that is because this is where you decide what is needed. I started off as a 50sta Ranger and never looked back. This is where your money comes in handy. The more money you can put into your gear the less Sta you’ll need.
For beginners I would Recommend 50sta.
Section III: Skills
There are Several AoE’s You want to Max as Soon as becoming a Ranger. These are:
![]()
You Get Arrow Rain At Lvl 50 so be sure to try and Max it at 50.
Also Piercing Arrow is unlocked at 70 so be sure to save up points for it.
Section IV: Gear
The Section I know most people have been waiting for. What Gear Does my Smexy Ranger need.
Once you Hit Level 60 Ditch any Set you Have now because we will be using the Level 59 NPC Set. Yes the set provided by the game. We use this set because it offers a good defensive rating that will Help you survive. Now if your making a Ranger and you have some Money I would Recommend the lvl 50 CW Set due to the elemental bonuses it provides.
For those Using the 59 NPC Set you will sell that set back to the NPC and buy yourself the level 71 NPC set for more defense until Level 75. This part is optional and up to you. I personally used a Grantus (Lvl 59 NPC Male Set) until 75.
Now we have our set what Bow will we be using @.@
No worries I got this covered to. ^^
If you can afford it Guardian Bow is the best you can possibly get at this level. If not then any NPC Bow will do. Prefferably bought from other players who sell NPC Bows awakened with Dex or Sta.
Guardian Bow
The Greatness of this set is it provides bonuses like all green Sets:
Bonus
1/4: No effect
2/4: Def+21
3/4: Def+50, Hit Rate+15%
4/4: Def+50, Hit Rate+15%, Add HP+15%
Now this Set is one you will want to pierce. But what do we pierce with. We pierce with Defense of course, since our Block isn’t the smexiest in the world right now defense is what will help us more. Some people recommend attack but I don’t think 16% attack is enough and 28% attack is to expensive to waste on this suit. So defense wins.
Again with set we will be using the guardian bow or an Awakened NPC Bow.
At level 75 there is a green bow Called the Historic Bow. This bow is useful and cheap to those who have been using NPC Bows. If you are using a GBow do not switch.
Historic Bow
As we grind we hit another Green Section. The 90 Greens.
We will NOT use the 90 Set because it offers no benefit to us whatsoever.
But we do come across something very amazing. Our Angel’s Bow becomes available. With 20% HP bonus on this baby you will grind with it for Life.
Angels Bow
Well now what comes next. Yup, you guessed it. The 105 set.
This Set being Green also provides bonuses:
Bonus
1/4: No effect
2/4: Def+10%
3/4: Def+10%, Ranged Atk Block +10%, Short Range Atk Block+10%
4/4: Def+15%, Ranged Atk Block+15%, Short Atk Block+15%, Add HP+15%
Yummy, Look at that block <3
Now this set will be your final set so you will want to + it as high as possible and pierce it with Attack. Yes you now have smexy Block so put in as high as attack as you can afford. 4x 4% attack should be roughly 16m on all Servers.
Section V: Jewelery (I’ll state the + that is recommended but remember to do what you can afford ^^)
What Jewelery Should I wear?
Well theres a decent selection of Jewelery to use but we will use demols, plugs, areks, gore/mental.
Now when you reach Rangerhood at level 60 you’ll want to throw on some Plugs+9′s for the added defense
Plugs
You’ll also want some Arek Rings +6 for the Dex Boost.
Areks
Now For the Necklace You should’ve done the Mia quest and gotten a +3 now this will be fine but a +6 is preffered.
Gore
Some Argue that Mental Necklace is better, I personally use one, but it is your char customize how you’d want it.
Mental
Now After you obtain your Ranerz or Raze Set you’ll lose the plugs because your Block will save you, no need for the defense, ^^. so what do we improve on. Killing Time. Throw on those Demols +12 and kill.
Demols
Section VI: Elementing
What is Elementing?
It’s when you add an element to your suit or weapon. On a suit it increases or decreases damage taken from a Mob (Flyff monster / masquerpet) When the mob you are fighting is of a Wind element and ou + your suit with +3 Fire you will receive less damage than a non elemented suit. Now if you have a suit with +3 Earth you will receive more damage (not the preffered)
The Elements go like this:
Wind > Earth
Earth > Electricity
Electricity > Water
Water > Fire
Fire > Wind
Now if your Weapon is elemented Fire and your opponent is wind you will do more dmg than if it was a water enemy.
Now when it comes to your suit always go opposite of the mob you are fighting. And only +3 is needed to reduce almost 300 pts of damage per mob. When AoEing 300 pts per mob is a lot of dmg saved.
Now Rangers are a bit different when it comes to Elementing our Bows. See our skills don’t have an element so it doesn’t matter. But we do have one skill that is elemented. Fire Arrow. So in order to increase our dmg the only way we can is to Element what? Yes Fire. +3 is fine and will get you far. Anymore is only if you got money to spare.
Section VII. Pets
Now there are two types of pets in this game and I think bazzzz did an amazing job describing them in his guide so I’m going to steal it. Hope ya don’t mind bazzzz ^^.
Pets
Cash Shop Pets
I finished with the enormous amount of drops and treasures waiting for you after the joy of striking down and annihilating a group of over-pesky arrogant ignorant dumbass mobs, but picking up the pieces can be nasty, getting a pet really helps you to get those sunstones that you missed or jewellery that’s almost invisible, its pricy but I wouldn’t want to level without one, it provides you the cash to buy food, refreshers and pills, (which are costly too ^^)
Egg Hatched Pets
The pet system introduced eggs dropping, exp raising and abilityraising of pets, more accessories that enhance the players ability, such as an Attack+5 Dragon or a HP+91 Unicorn, but feeding and maintaining those pets is thanks to more recent versions very well doable, so a good option nowadays.
But it’s really more something for the better fortunate players among us if you aim for "perfect" pets (1/3/5/7/9)
Since AFK petraising becomes a thing of even the poorest of players, prices of pets going down, prices of petfeed going up, but nevertheless, its easier to get a good bet, and people even base builds upon the use of a pet…
Ill do tell you, that in my humble opinion, pets are vulnerable bonusses, especially if you are an AoE character. but learning how to, is the key here.
As a ranger, you have the choice to pick any pet in the market, except the tiger, since STR isnt worth the investment if you ask me…
ill list the possible pets and their usefullnes in order of importance, starting with the most important ones…
1. Attack Dragon
The reason for this pet to be at #1 on my list is that one point in dex adds 3~3.5 attack, and the dragons points add 5 attack, regardless the damaging stat. as almost every AoE character sacrifices stats, awakenings and piercings to add defense, tanking abilities etc, a dragon is the perfect way to make up for that lost damage… this way, the tanking abilities will be great, regardless, and when AoEing gets dying-free, take out that dude and shred away. also is thispet very Char-Changeable, both Rangers and BP’s can use it, since its attack, not a definig stat.
2. DEX Rabbit
A very nice option, the dex it provides gives damage, block, evasion and crit (not that crits our b*tch, but still) Besides, it looks cute
3. STA Lion
these two come in second and third (or vice versa), since the STA vs DEX ratio is really a matter of preference, although i think a STA lion has more advantages, as STA gives both DEF and HP, HP is a value that cant be maxed, and isn’t capped at any number.
4. DEF Griffin
this one is at #4 cause Adding DEF is good, but you might as well go with the STA Lion, since it gives DEF as well as HP, (although not as much DEF as you’d get from a Griffin) so doing this in early levels could help you out reducing that damage on syliacas and onwards, since their attack leaps up from that point on. after lvl 90, Do not use a griffin for its DEF, DEF gets less and less important for PvM… its block+evasion you’ll want, so a rabbit.
5. HP Unicorn
to some its the ‘creme de la creme’ of pets, for AoEers. To me its merely a shift of your ‘i’m dead now’ line… since just adding HP doesnt make you die at a slower pace, but it does last you longer before you reach the point of 0 HP… arguably the most useless bonus, but to low STA rangers it can be a real life saver. One great benefit of the Unicorn is that its Hp Addition is affected by HP piercings, so it can really Amplify your HP bonus when your suit is peirced 28% HP.
I think that a unicorn is mainly very handy in PvP and at CW, since CW disregards DEF, and so does HoP in PvP, there you just need a lotta numbers in the red bar at the top of your screen.
6. INT Fox
though INT increases fire arrows damage, the increase is hardly noticable, the MP you’d gather from rocking a Fox is negligable, so the same reason we dont put INT in our base build, is because its pretty much useless, spam MP pots please…give the fox to your RM, he makes HP out of MP (by healing you ^^)
Section VIII: How To Make Money As a Ranger
You are AoE and the higher you level the better the drops will be. Right now as a 104 Fighting Kings in Azria I can Make 50m a Grinding Session. Just in stuff ima sell to the NPC not even greens and suns and moons.
Now as a beginning Ranger Plugs and Areks and that Gore can be quite pricy. At lvl 65 I suggest finding an Assist or RM who wishes to make money with you and going to the Cave in Saint Morning And fighting the Ivillis Mushelizer.
P.S. welcome to the Ranger Brotherhood and happy Flyffing all.
