
Hi all ^^ Jabber here! I’ve noticed there wasn’t a guide for the different types of psy builds and lvling methods in this forum, so I tried to make one =) Hopefully, it will help those who can’t decide what psy to be or to restat to. It’s far from perfect, as I have not personally tried all of these builds myself yet … a majority of the information came from reading through the forum posts … so any help is appreciated!
A list I compiled that describes each Psy skill. The skills a psy uses primarily define the "type" of psy in conjunction with their build. Therefore, it’s good to familiarize yourself with each skill and their characteristics. ^_^

Demonology: Deals basic non-elemental damage.

Note: Satan’s duration lasts the Base Duration PLUS 1 second for every 10 INT.
Satan stops the enemy from moving, but it can still attack you if you are in range.
Satanology has bugs D=
1) Sometimes, the enemy can still attack you even if it’s far away and Sataned. If this happens, move around and/or recast Satan.
2) Skills that affect movement and speed of the enemy (including sneaker, ice missile, looting, ice arrow) nulls the effect of Satan. This means that if you cast Satan on a mob, and someone casts sneaker/looting/etc on the same mob, Satan will have no effect once duration time for sneaker/looting/etc is over. The only way to stop the mob from moving again is to wait for every movement-based effect to wear out, and then recast. >_<
Psychic Bomb: Deals non-elemental damage to the enemy, and has the chance to stun.

Spirit Bomb: Deals non-elemental damage to the enemy. The more percentage of MP left in your MP bar, the more damage you deal. With full MP at maxed level, this skill has the potential to be one of the most damaging skills in the game. =D

Damage is based on how full your mp bar is (or what percentage of mp you have left compared to your total mp).
0% – 49%: Base Attack Rate
50% – 89%: Base Attack Rate x 1.2
90% -100%: Base Attack Rate x 1.5
For best results, use ref holds or spam refreshers to keep constant high damage rate. ^^
Psychic Wall: Creates up to 2 walls that prevent the enemy from reaching the Psy. When the enemy touches the wall, the wall will deal little damage and bounce the enemy back a few steps.

Note:
Some say that Psy Square is the heaviest damage dealing AOE in the game.
Psy Square is remote-target, so it damages the enemy you target and its surrounding enemies.
Psy Square has a whopping 10 second cooldown >_<
Psies are, in my opinion, one of the most fun class to play with because there is so much you can do with them ^^ They can excell at lvling, gianting, pvping, etc. depending on the build. This is a guide … to guide people into choosing what to do, not to tell them what to do. Just wanted to make that clear because alot of what is written below is very broad and strictly informative ^_~
I hate labelling … and there are sooooo many ways you can work with your psy. It should all fit to your personal taste. But … to make things easier, I’ll discuss the 3 main psies I’m familiar with by naming the skill they are most often identified with: Satan, Crucio, and AOE psies … based on their distribution of sta and int.

Satan Psies

Common Build
15-40 sta
Rest goes into int
The solo build, some say ^^ Satan psies usually have alot of int. Therefore, they’re damage is very high. The basic rule of thumb is to use Satanology to root mobs down (usually over 20 seconds if you have high int) and then ruthlessly attack with some psy spell (usually spirit bomb). You never get hit that way. NOTE: Satanology has bugs! Details over that are discussed below.
Skills You Should Know
Satonology is a lvl 65 skill that stops mobs from moving for a limited time.
Spirit Bomb is a lvl 65 skill that is the most damaging of all psy skills, but only if your mp is 90-100% full.
Demonology is a lvl 60 skill that has faster cast time than spirit bomb, use less mp, and is slightly stronger (but not much).
Psychic Bomb is a lvl 60 skill that has 30% chance of stunning someone at max lvl (lvl 10) but costs more mp and is slightly weaker than demonology (but not by much).
On EQ: Satan psies generally don’t need upgraded EQ or lots of defence. You can stick to teba/misty or anoos/ahes set for their bonuses if you want. Because the mob never touches you, EQ in def and sta isn’t that important =P (Just becareful to watch out for aggros!). Wand-wise, anything that deals more dmg, adds int, etc. is good ^^ DO NOT element your wand!! Elementing wands will make psy spells weaker.
On Levelling: Use Satanology to stop the mob from moving, and then choose any damaging spell to attack at the poor unmoving mob until he dies. You can level on practically any lvl mob that way, solo without an assist/RM even since the mob can’t touch you =D (however, if you get an RM to spam holycross on the mob, it’ll die REALLY fast, highly reccomended!) though if you try to kill mobs too higher lvl, it’ll take a loooooong time (I recommend fighting mobs around 10-12 lvls higher at MOST). Most people use Spirit Bomb to damage the mob, but some use demonology for faster casting time or psybomb. Levelling speed is generally pretty good around lvl 60s and early lvl 90s. From late lvl 60s to 80s … using this method is far slower than the other psy builds. This becomes one of the slowest levelling build during those lvl ranges. Many people restat due to slow leveling of this build … so be warned!
Need RM?: Nope~ ^^ You can solo well with Satan psy as long as you keep an eye our for aggros. But if you do get an rm to holycross the mobs for you, it’ll double the damage you deal, and that’s a lot of damage! =)
On Pvping: Since Satanology is their specialty, these psies generally do well against melee classes, by sataning them and then killing from far away. Against ranged classes however, they can still pvp well due to their high dmg. It depends alot on who gets the first hit in. Spirit bomb is deadly =) and using psybomb to stun an opponent is also a good method ^^ It will be very easy for high dmging classes to kill you quickly, so be alert!
On Gianting: You will giant very well ^^ Why? Because using Satanology, you can kill any level giant you want. As stated before, don’t get too ambitious and kill uber higher lvl giants, b/c it’ll take a much longer time than it’s worth. This increases the range of giants you can hunt, which makes it easier to hunt in general. If your satan lasts a shorter amount of time, you’ll need to recast it more times, and killing the giant will be slower. When you are higher levelled, you should have more int, and satan not only lasts longer, but you also kill faster. The time it takes to kill a giant, therefore, depends alot on int. A higher lvl satan psy will be able to kill giants incredibly quickly!
On Money: Money should not be a problem. Satan psies can giant well and shouldn’t spend too much on armor. Some say that this type of psy is actually the richest, precisely because they can giant so well ^^ Tip: giants from volt to cranes, and bombtimers have good drop rate, so take advantage of hunting those giants if you wanna get lots of eq to sell/npc!
When do most people use this build? Most people start out as int psies. They are fun and levelling’s not that bad as a lower lvl psy. Some wait until 65 just to get Satan and giant alot. Alot of people tend to restat to a high-sta build after 65 (and some before too) because levelling using satan becomes alot slower than the other builds. Usually until late lvl 80s and early 90s is when psies restat back to int build, because mobs outside mines become too spread out to AOE and Crucioing against any 105+ mobs require exceptionally good EQ (b/c they hit very hard on rage mode). However, it seems that many psies continue to AOE beyond the 90s range. Once you reach the higher lvl 100+ mobs, the spawn becomes more closely spaced, and aoeing seems more efficient then.
Things to Know: Satanology has bugs! 1) Sometimes, a mob can still attack you even if it’s far away and sataned … just watch out, and move around a bit or recast satan, and it should be ok. 2) If you are fighting with someone, make sure they don’t use any skill that affects movement speed of the mob! Skills such as sneaker, ice missile, looting, ice arrow etc null satan. This means that once sneaker, ice missile, etc. run out, Satan has no affect on the mob anymore. The only way to satan it again, is to wait for everything to wear out, and recast. So be careful!
Satan also lasts 10 seconds at lvl 10, plus 1 more second for every 10 int you have.
Also, most people use Spirit bomb to attack, but it only does the best damage at 90-100% mp. Some people spam refs just to keep their mp up. This will drain refs and cost money, but from personal experience, the amount of money you use on refs is very unnoticeable if you get used to it. I wouldn’t worry about that =P
Crucio Psies

Common Build
Full sta <– Recommended!!
or
Very little int and mostly sta
Ahhh … crucio psies. The fastest levellers and probably the most hated of all psies. You are a punching bag basically. You wait for the mob to hit you, and using crucio, reflect dmg back. It can be really fun at first, but chances are, will get boring. This can also be a money drain and you will most likely be completely RM-reliant. =P
Skills You Should Know
Crucio is a self-buff that you cast on yourself. It reflects back damage done to you by the mob. At lvl 10, it’ll reflect back twice the damage done to you. (In pvp, this buff doesn’t work against skills)
Satonology is a lvl 65 skill that stops mobs from moving for a limited time.
Pychic Wall is a lvl 70 skill that bounces a mob away from you when it touches the wall.
On EQ: This depends all your lvl, defence, the buffs of your RM, etc. Generally, if you’re a lower lvl psy, get EQ that gives the most def/hp and element it (to fire if you are fighting glaphs). As you become higher level, in order to maximize the amount of damage taken, you will need to switch to lower defence (by wearing lower lvl eq, or removing eq). Also, adding +hp to your armor is highly reccommended and sometimes crucial. I was reccommended to use misty/teba set for the added hp (2 parts are needed only). Go find what suits you best ^^ As for wands … it doesn’t matter what kind of wand. Maybe something with added int to make crucio last longer. In any case, just make sure it’s a wand XD DO NOT element your wand!! Elementing wands will make psy spells weaker.
On Levelling: One of the most unique levelling methods =D First, get an assist/RM with high int, high lvled buffs and heal! (16+ … the higher the better) Cast crucio on yourself and go attack a high levelled mob (about 30 levels higher than you is a good standard). Every time the mob hits you, you should reflect back double the amount of damage dealt (if you have maxed crucio). Some psies run away after each hit so that they have time to heal. Others utilize psywall or satan (ex: satan the mob and run away after each hit … the mob will remain sataned). Either way, get your health back to full hp before the mob attacks you again. Either wait for your rm to heal you, or eat food, or both. If you get crit, eat pills immediately followed by food! You cannot rely on your rm to heal every lost hp particularly in the case of a crit. >.< The mob will take awhile to die, but when it does, you’ll get a LOT of exp. On a full contri party, crucioing glaphs, you’ll get ~0.9-1% per glaph around level 70. From lvl 60 – 80 or so, this will fastest way to level for any class. =)
Need RM?: YES!! If you don’t have an assist/RM, levelling using crucio is very very inefficient, if not impossible
On Pvping: Crucio psies do well in pvp because they can tank more hits ^^ Your attack might be pretty low though … so utilize psybomb, the action slot, blinkpool, or wands w/added casting time bonus. You might have trouble killing classes with high defence (your dmg won’t be very good) … and of course, rangers.
On Gianting: Alot of people say Crucio psies can’t giant. Well .. not true .. they can giant. ^^ It’s just that … it’s very very slow. They should not use satan to giant. With that much sta, they can just tank the giants. However, damage will be small, so killing is slower. An rm for gianting with will definitely help though.
On Money: At lower levels especially, you will most likely eat alot of food and pills to recover from the mob’s crits. It’ll take alot of penya out of you … so yes, you’ll get alot poorer. Some say that this type of psy drains the most money since they eat so much food and can’t giant as well as those with more int. If you run away/satan/psywall the mob after every hit and wait for your rm to heal you, you won’t need to use as much food, and therefore save money =D But some people think this is too slow.
When do most people use this build? Most people restat to crucio build during the lvl 60s, although some people start out as full sta psies without restatting. Restats cost alot so be sure to save money for that! Usually, people crucio until lvl 80 or so, because by then, exp from glaph (lvl 102-104 mob) is too little to compensate for the amount of time it takes to kill one. At that point, crucio psies tend to start adding int or restat to aoe build. Some psies have tried to crucio the new lvl 105+ mobs. They are crucio-able BUT they have rage mode and hit HARD, so only if you have really good eq with high def/hp should you try to crucio these guys … otherwise, it’s probably better to move to mines.
Things to Know: Crucio is a self-buff that only reflects back twice the damage you take at max lvl, so get crucio to lvl 10 first, or else it won’t be as efficient. Also, crucio psies are basically full sta (full sta is highly recommended), but there is no rule that says you MUST be full sta to crucio. Some people have a little int and do fine crucioing, and some people who originally were full sta start adding int as early as lvl 70s. Do what you want ^^ Oh and finally … if you are a crucio psy … try staying out of most people’s way, especially at glaphs, b/c many people hate crucioers, and will yell at you/etc =P Just a warning ^^
AOE Psies

Common Build
50-60 int and rest sta
At lvl 90s+ you will want to add more int
Also known as hybrid psies, though hybrids, in my opinion, can be anything that doesn’t involve near full sta or full int lol. Anyway, these psies level decently, not as slow as satan psies and not as fast as crucioers. They are generally great at pvp. They are basically like any other aoers out there … so nothing too special I guess =( But still awesome b/c they’re psies ^^
Skills You Should Know
Max Crisis is a lvl 65 aoe skill that doesn’t have cool off but has a relatively short range. Most psies use this one to AOE.
Psy Square is a lvl 75 aoe skill that deals more dmg and is a remote damaging spell but has 10 sec cooldown.
On EQ: Depending on the mob, you should upgrade your EQ and element them (elementing is highly recommended and makes alot of difference!). The lvl 75, 90, and new 105 sets are very good to use for aoeing. EQ made for tanking basically =P As for wand, get a good one that deals most damage =P DO NOT element your wand!! Elementing wands will make psy spells weaker.
On Levelling: You can actually level with or without an RM, but an RM is always recommended ^^ Psies get 2 aoes: one at lvl 65 and one at lvl 75. Because the lvl 75 aoe has a 10 sec cooldown (despite it being uber dmging and cool), most psies use the lvl 65 one instead. Now go gather alot of mobs (5-10 lvls above you, more or less depending on your preferenc) and spam max crisis! You can cast crucio on yourself if you want, but it is not recommended since using crucio on mobs decreases wand durability alot and the mobs themselves will be dealing so little damage on you that the amount you reflect back isn’t really worth it. Also, do NOT aoe mobs that are ranged or run away; max crisis is too short ranged to reach these types of mobs! This levelling method is decent, and after lvl 80, is said to be the fastest way to level. Most psies, by then, go aoeing in the mines, but it may be crowded. You can aoe outside the mines too, but higher lvl mobs are spread out more. Ahhh .. decisions decisions =P
Need RM?: Reccommended! But you can solo-aoe without an rm … but if you get an assist/rm, you’ll find that the lvl of the mobs you can take is higher and the amount is alot more. In my opinion, it’s far more efficient to have an rm with you to aoe ^^ Solo-aoe is doable, but goes slower …
On Pvping: AOE build psies and hybrid psies are pretty much set for pvp. Your satan can hold for a short amount of time, but they can still hold. Your damage will be low against those with high sta, but that can be compensated by eq that offers +int. It’s a great build for pvp.
On Gianting: I have mixed opinions about this. Some people say you can’t giant as well as satan psies, but I don’t think that. Either way, most aoe psies can tank giants well enough not to have to rely on satanology. Depending on how much int they have, they can deal fairly good damage too. It DOES go slowly though … much slower than satan psies. RM is recommended as always. ^^
On Money: This shouldn’t be too much of a problem. You’ll get eq/jewelry/pds/drops/etc as you AOE (especially in mines). Sell them and make money.
When do most people use this build? Some people restat to an aoe build after lvl 80. More commonly is that people start crucioing first with full sta, and then start pumping int by late 70s or early 80s; Some may start pumping int as early as lvl 70 . Eventually, they’ll have enough int to deal decent dmg with decent mp pool and the sta to tank well. At lvl 78-80s, usually psies start to move to the mines to AOE pinky roaches. By lvl 88-90, many psies move out of the mines. At this point, mob spawn outside mines appear too far spread out to aoe, which is why some lvl 9x restat to int-build because aoeing seems slower. At the lvl 100s, some go aoe again b/c 1-vs-1 seems slow again, especially since the lvl 100+ mobs are very closely spaced together, and aoeing becomes much more efficient! Only problem is that the lvl 105+ mobs involve different elements clumped into one tiny space, so high defence is a must!
Things to Know: AOE psy and hybrid psy aren’t really the same thing, but the two terms can be used interchangibly. AOE psies generally have alot more sta than int (most people say 50 int is good), but there are a few suicidal psies that have more int. It’s based on your preference. Some people say psy aoe sucks because psy square has cooloff and max crisis is shortranged and sucks alot of mp. Anywho, I think using max crisis to aoe is good enough =) Also, lower lvl mobs require less sta to aoe than higher ones (lvl70+ basically), so be warned!
Unconventional Builds and Levelling Methods
These are some builds I’ve seen or heard of. Try them out if you want XD
The Hybrids
High Int Crucioer
I was one a while back XD It was fun but risky and still slower than crucio psies, but lvl faster than satan-reliant psies. Basically, it’s reverse of AOE psy stats: you have alot of int and relatively fewer sta, but still more sta than satan psies. (50-70 sta and rest int, but it varies). You go fight mobs 10-15 lvls higher and crucio them WHILE attacking with spirit bomb (or some other dmg-dealing spell). You’ll deal ok damage and reflect back ok dmg. This is kind of fun to do, but most people don’t like it =P RM is always good of course
High Int AOEr
I call them suicidal psies, and I guess I am one ^^ You have practically half int and half sta, but once again, it varies. This is basically the aoe psy build mentioned above but with alot more int. Upgraded EQ and RM is highly recomended. Giant hunting goes alot faster than regular aoers I suppose and killing is faster in general. But … just be careful about your defence =p
2-3 Sta-Int Psy
A fairly specific build that involves EQ change in order to accomodate preferences ^^ This was recommended by superman555

Basically with this build based on the jewlery you wear, you can change your specialties. Ex. When I wear my plugs Sta rings and gore, My hp is enough to become a pretty good crucio and lets me aoe higher lvls. When I wear my Mental Necklace, and Int rings my damage dealing goes is excellent and so is my Sataning. I highly recommend this build !!! After much research and being confused about being either crucio, satan, or aoe, I found a perfect hybrid it is excellent and I am very happy with it. Basically if you want to excell in a certain psy aspect, then all you have to do is wear the jewlery that pertains."

The Str/Dex Psies <– CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION
Lol … Only use this if you are absolutely bored out of your mind! Lol no but really … I have never seen any psy with this build. I’ve only heard once or twice people talking about restatting to a str/dex type build when they are really high lvl (100+). At that point, it probably takes longer to cast enough spells to kill a glaph than to just whack it to death with high str/dex along w/RM buffs. You can’t whack with wands though, so use a staff or something I guess. Once again .. I have never seen anyone actually becoming a str/dex psy so don’t quote me on this one! >.<
