Yoyo Jester
Alright, well it is about time that a new guide was put up. Seeing as Thief’s guide is from version 6 and we are now in version 10. Things have changed and people need to be able to see that.
This is a Yoyo Jester guide, not some Acrobat, BowJester guide. I am here for the sole purpose of letting people know the true power of the Yoyo and how it is the most lethal weapon in flyff. If you want to level fast and how a ton of cool skills to mess around with, than Yoyos are for you.
the0number wrote:YoYos have the passion of a True Jester that a Bow can never achieve. They are proffesional levelers, damage dealers, and out-rank BJ’s on practically every level there is to think of.
This line probably sums up the Jester class better than anything I could think of myself.
Ok first off Yoyo Jesters, from now on I am calling it just Jester, are the second fastest levelers in the 1vs.1 category. We can kill faster than nearly everyone besides Blades because they have haxxed weapons.
Jesters are not cheap and if you don’t have the funds to get a +8 set by level 90 you wont be leveling so fast. If you are not willing to put the time and effort into Gianting or any other form of money making, you may need to re-think some things.
That being said all of my 90+ builds are going to be based off of +8 sets, trust me by 90 getting enough money isn’t that hard.
EDIT: Bolded due to the fact that some people can’t seem to read ^_^
Basic Stat info
First off I am going to go into details about each stat point. I will include a lot of stuff you may or may not have known about Jesters. And no int is not included in this guide.
First off we have Str, this is the most important stat to a Jester. We get 4.2 attack rating per 1 Str point. This is low, very low. Yoyos default attack rating is very low all together but that is ok because it isn’t our attack rating that makes us so strong it is our Crits. But to get good Crits we do need our attack rating to be as high as possible.
Now our attack rating is low but our Crits will multiply our damage from anywhere between 1%-50% the normal damage. Once you include our sets that add to our Crit damage we start rocking.
For example purposes only, this is not a real example, just pretend your normal hits are for 500, your crit hits can be 1k. So we want to have as high of attack rating as possible with have a good Crit ratio, that being said next is Dex.
EDIT: I did some math, which may be incorrect, but it actually is pretty darn close to my actual leveling damage. Crits will be from 1.7 your normal damage to 2.52, I got bored and messed with some calculators. I put in my leveling damage and I wasn’t that far off at all. If you want to test this just put in what your normal damage is(non-crit) and see if it is close to your highest crit. Feed back on this would be great.
Dex gives us a lot of things, we get: Crit rate, Accuracy, Block, Evasion, and speed breaks. Jesters get 4% Crit per 10 Dex, 7% Block per 10 Dex, and 5% Evasion per 10 Dex. Dex is the second most important stat because of everything that it adds. But, Dex is only good up to a certain point, after that it hurts you more than helps.
For crit rate we want to stay between 80 and 90 Crit Rate for the most part, lower gives you better base attack but lowers your Crit, higher gives you max Crit but lowers your damage. Between 80 and 90 tends to work the best.
Next up is Stamina., I always have had 15 Sta and was able to survive. I have gotten close to dying many times but I would never trade 15 Str for 15 Sta any day. I am only going to advise 15 Sta but if you feel that you are dying to much or getting to close to dying too much feel free to add some as you wish.
Never go above 30 however. Any higher than 30 is not needed. We will have 40 from Heap up and we can always element our suits. I haven’t died as a Jester once and actually have had the same Blessing for months. And this is with 15 Sta. Just make sure to pay attention because we are pretty fragile if a unblocked Crit actually connects.
Stamina gives quite a few things as well. Stamina rates are a little different than the other rates. Every point of Sta we get is a small part of a big equation. No class gets a concrete amount of Hp per Sta point. Each level, 1 Sta adds a different amount. Now even though that info is basically useless it is still nice to know these things I guess.
Build Time!!!!!
Now it is time for builds, first off I will start with Pre-90 builds. Builds differ for 2 main reasons at 90 which I will explain in a bit.
This first build is what I used from 80-90 and I wish I used it sooner.
xXx Str
15 Sta
83 Dex
With the Historic yoyo I hit 90 Dex, add max Cannon into that I will be at 110 Dex. That gives me 44% crit+40% Crit from Crit swing giving me a grand total of 84% Crit. With this build I was out leveling everyone I saw and I was able to laugh at every classes damage output because mine was far better.
Second build is what I read in a guide way long ago, and decided to use it. This build is pretty good and worth it at pre-90.
xXx Str
15 Sta
65 Dex
Historic yoyo +Cannon lets us be at 92 Dex which is the speed break. This will only let us be at 76% Crit rate but you will still be leveling pretty fast.
Those are the only two builds I would ever think of using as a Jester before 90.
Level 90 Builds
At 90 we get two very important things at our disposal which is why we can cut our Dex way down. We get our 90 set which gives us 15% Crit, and we get GT.(Reminder these builds our including the fact that you get 2 Dex from a +8 set, and 7 from Historic yoyo)
First up is the one I am currently using and will probably use forever.
XxX Str
15 Sta
41 Dex
With our set, yoyo, and cannon we hit 70 Dex, add Crit Swing, and our 90 set we hit 83% Crit. This is a very good number to stick with. With Gt we also get 100% attack speed which means we just get to kill everything in site.
The second build has slightly more Dex.
XxX Str
15 Sta
51 Dex
With the set, yoyo, and cannon we hit 80 Dex adding to a whopping 87% Crit. This is the highest I would ever get my Crit to, I think anymore is sacrificing too much Str.
Important Info about Jesters
Even though at times 99% Crit is fun I wouldn’t do it, but it wouldn’t change your leveling speed too much. Just remember any higher than 99% Crit waste too much Dex. For most cases just stay in between 80 and 90 Crit.
Now remember every single point of Dex you can squeeze out of your equips is a good thing. So stated cloaks, pieces of armor/weaps/ masks anything that adds Dex is good. with each point of Dex added this way take off one Dex point added to your char.
So if you have a +2 Dex cloak and a + 1 Dex mask instead of 41 Dex be at 38. Sure you may think oh well it is only 12 attack rating but remember Jesters Crit multiply our attack rating so 12 could turn into much more. Remember with max buffs and your equips on you should be at a even number. For those two builds the numbers are 70/80 Dex.
Another thing, you can use Dexions, but in order for this to work you will need either a Dexion +2 or more or a Strente +2 or more. If you have anything less than you will actually gain less Str and do less damage than if you were to just add it yourself.
Equip time!!
First set we will use is the Hyper/Cruiser set. It adds 55 Defense, 20% Fp/Mp consumption, 10% Yoyo/Bow AP, and 40% crit Damage.
This is the best set to use up until 90 so don’t think of using another set at all.
At 90 We get the Rasra/Restra set. It adds 49 Defense, 15% Crit, and 40% Crit Damage.
This is the best leveling set that any class could ever ask for. This is what makes us Jesters a class worthy of being. Upgrade this set to no end because it will be the last set you will use. At least +8 it minimum.
Yoyo time!!!!
Guardian yoyo adds some odd Defense which is silly but oh well it probably saved me before lol. Mainly it adds 10% to attack speed. This is a great thing to add to a weapon and very useful to us.
Historic yoyo, the god of Yoyos. This baby adds 7 Dex and 28% Crit damage. The Crit damage makes it the best grinding yoyo in the game, Bloody may be better but I haven’t tested that out yet. This hands down beats the Angels Yoyo and the LG yoyo though. Don’t be afraid to spend so serious money on this piece of art because you’ll be using it for a long time.
Remember now that we can un-element our equips every time you go to a mob element your stuff depending on what you are fighting. Very useful, and I wish I had that before that’s for sure. This includes your armor as well as your yoyo. This is really important for those doing the 15 Sta like I suggest. Even if it is just +3 that is a decent percentage of damage that you aren’t taking.
Skills time!!!
Enchant Poison- We will use this, now even though Blood says it does Crit damage this is either translated wrong or a bug. Until that is fixed Poison is the better of the 2.
Adds 60 Attack power and has a 20% chance of poisoning.
Crit Swing- The Best self buff in the game, it adds the same as 100 Dex worth of Crit. All classes wish they had this and they know it.
Adds 40% Crit rate.
Yoyo Mastery- Attack power is the only thing this gives, but that is good even though it is small.
Adds 42 Attack rating.
Perfect Block- Adds Block rate which is good, but remember if the mob you are fighting has no chance of killing you even if 3 are on you don’t bother casting this. I.E. fighting Glaphans at 100 this is useless, or mines at 85+.
Adds 20% to Block rate.
Dark Illusion- Makes you go ninja on everything. Remember though that you can’t use this if your mob is poisoned. It counts as you attacking the mob and you are kicked out of Di status. So basically you have to choose between Di and Poison when you are at the Desert or mines even.
Due to the new AI system for mobs you really need to watch out for your Rm partner, if you cast DI, the mob will automatically go for your partner and attack them.
Invisible for 14 Seconds.
Pulling- Well this skill is very useful when at the mines and I have used it in the Desert a bit too. When there is a big group of agros just pull it next you you and then attack it.
Pulls…
Fastwalker- Very helpful when you kill everything and nothing is close by, other than that don’t bother using it.
Adds 50% to running speed.
Awakenings
It’s pretty simple here. You want to add as much to your offensive line as possible. Seeing as it would take a insane amount of Cs to get perfect stats I would take the first good or first great Attack/Str/Crit damage/Crit rate/Dex adding Awakening that you get. All of those will lead to higher damage output, but if you could I would not take the Crit rate over the other 4. Dex is also something I would not take unless it was really nicely stated.
I don’t really have the time or patience at the moment to test which one would be better than the other. In a month or so I might do a very detailed test, but I am confident Crit Damage will lead to the highest Damage output. Basically how I would test this is get a bunch of AVERAGE Stated Awakened level 15 Yoyos and see which one kills the Venel the fastest. Killing it 10 times to give me a good average. The tricky part would be to find out what the Average for each stat would be.
Pets
Again this is really not that hard of something to figure out, but considering I have seen some stupid questions on this forum I will put this anyways.
As a Jester you only want POWER. Kill before you have the chance to be killed. So basically get yourself a Tiger or a Dragon. A Perfect Dragon gives more Attack by a very small amount when compared to a Perfect Tiger. Honestly I like the way the Tiger looks and the Difference isn’t too big at all. Also Average Dragon vs. Average Tiger the difference is almost nothing.
PvP TIME!!!
Ok well, it’s about time I added PvP I guess. I am going to go into more detail about what you should aim for rather than lower level PvP builds and such. This is mainly because, well… you shouldn’t really go PvP built until you can afford such things. I will mainly talk about builds and equips and a little bit into strategy.
First off lets talk about builds, as usual I have two, one main one and the other less efficient one. For the most part if you have the money to back it up, full Str is the way to go. This build recquires you to have very highly upgraded set to back it up. If you can not get a Version 7 set to +10 this is not the build for you.
The second build is 50 Sta rest Str, I used this build during version 7 and it worked nicely. My HoP was still nice and I had enough Hp to tank most people. In all honesty though the Sta is probably border line too much if you know how to PvP.
The key to having a low Sta build is your equips. What I do is I have two suits(Version 7 28% Hp and 28% Attack), two sets of rings(Stamrings and Vigors) and I always have a Leaf set with me as well. What you need to do is change your equips based on the situation you are in. Likewise I have different pets.
If you are not in the middle of attacking someone you should keep your Sta/Hp equips on just in case you are attacked. When you are in the middle of attacking swap on your Attack/Str stuff and get ready to HoP. Trust me while you are in Di, which you always should be, there is plenty of time to swap your equips before the attack.
We can not tank, we are not good at it at all. If we are attacked first chances are we are going to die. This is why we should rely on killing either killing before they have the chance to kill us, or we stay in Di and constantly keep moving. Fastwalker and Di are your friends for surviving.
For equips outside of getting them highly uprgraded get the version 7 set as well as the best Yoyo you can get your hands on. Either Bloody or the Lg obviously. You also really will need to upgrade the Yoyo as well eventually getting it to Ultimate status.
For srategy it is best to keep moving obviously. Staying in one spot for more than the time it takes to kill someone makes you too vulnerable to other attacks. Also stay in Di as much as possible, that is a must as well. Obviously make sure you are invisible before you attack and attacking from behind is your best bet for surprise, saying of course they suvive your initial hit.
Never start a fight with someone over your damage potential. For the most part don’t pick a fight with high Sta chars chances are you will lose if they are well equiped and built.
I really don’t know what else to put in there because attack patterns and how to press a button should be obvious knowledge. Get your equips, get your build, kill, and keep moving afterwords until you spot your next target. Just post for more stuff you want to see in here.
Other Stuff
Alright well that sums this part of it up. I will be adding more later but I am tired of typing for now. The first one I wrote up actually didn’t go through so I had to type another one up.
