My AoE Knight Guide
First and foremost, I would like to state… the majority of this information I have tested myself, as I have a level 117 AoE knight. I would also like to address the fact that this is a BEGINNERS Guide to being an AoE knight, though as I update, it will become more and more… advanced. This is meant to be a reference for the beginners, not a word for word guide, though if you feel it necessary, be my guest. Anyways, it’s time to get on with the introduction. My name is Noah, I’m from Glaphan. So anyways… I’ve been trying to get around to making a knight guide for awhile, and I’m just now getting on to it.

1. Introduction to the wonderful world of Knights! [Intro]
What is a knight?
Quick answer; the general tank of flyff
Long answer; One whom, in midevil times would ride around on a horse in shining silver armor.
What is AoE?
AoE: Short for Area of Effect, the process of gathering monsters, then killing them all at once. Though for some people who are from other MMO’s, you may know this as Splash Damage, or Mobbing.
Most Knights AoE, and when they AoE, it should be with an axe(more on this later). It mostly consists of hitting a bunch of enemies so they follow you, then stop, ad kill them all at once using an AoE attack.
Why a Knight?
Maybe it’s preference, or perhaps the desire to look so delicious in the 105 set, who knows?
I’ll most likely add more to this at a later date, but it’s not of vital importance.
2. Stats [Build]
Lemme start this off by saying… the way I see it, there are three types of classes in this game, upper class (the rich), middle class (the middle), and lower class (the poor). Before deciding which build you would like, decide which one you are, as it affects your build a great deal.
An aoe knight will use two stats, strength, and stamina. If you are creating your build, you have a big choice to make: To cap stamina, or to cap strength. By capping stamina, you are never short on damage, and will probably be cheaper than who caps strength. The one’s who cap stamina will need upgraded vigor rings, and upgraded demol earrings. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR STATS… Do this: By level 65, you’ll have 128 stat points, okay? For the capped stamina builds, in which you really only need 70-75 to start with, which would leave you with 83-88 strength. Then you should pump stamina to the desired amount, and finish by blowing it on Strength. Now, for capped Strength builds, but your strength at 45/50, pump stamina, until 75, finish with your desired str stat, and then go back to pumping stamina. IMO means In My Opinion, which is my personal input on the build.
Pre-made builds: Quick note of interest, if you wish to submit a build, please send it to me in this format:
Str:
Stamina:

Lower, Middle, or Upper class:
Notes on the build:
Capped Stamina builds:
Str: XXX
Stamina: 120
Dex: 15
Int: 15
Equipment: Any knight set +3 or above
It works well in any of them, though best suited for high lower class, to low middle class.
Notes: Most popular Knight build, and one of the most effective. I must recommend this one to people due to the low cost it takes to maintain. Great for a first character.
IMO: This is a great build. It’s a robust build, providing great damage, with tanking capability to match. Awesome build for first characters.
Str: XXX
Stamina: 150
Dex: 15
Int: 15
Equipment: Any knight set +3 or above
It works for any of them, none all too much better than the other.
Notes: I like this build, it offers more survivability than the build above, at the cost of lower damage. It’s actually quite good, and will work for anyone.
IMO: This is similar to the one above. It’s an extremely cheap build. The damage will be lower than the one above, but it will still be consistent. Not as much damage; much more survivability. Your call.
Str: XXX
Stamina: 100
Dex: 15
Int: 15
Equipment: Any knight set +5 or above, and Plugs(preferred)
Middle class and up. I just don’t see lower class pulling this one off.
Notes: This is a risky build, though it may have a nice outcome if you have a steady amount of money. High damage, at the cost of low survivability.
IMO: This build can be very, very effective, or be one of the worst build ever. Guard is absolutely necessary, as it will greatly aid your tanking ability. Your damage will be high, allowing for a quick aoe, once you get down to it.
Capped Strength Builds: For these, Demol +12’s are needed, as well as Vigor +9’s. They can get rather costly, I must admit.
Str: 60
Stamina: XXX
Dex: 15
Int: 15
Equipment: Any knight set +3 or above, though I would recommend your weapon be +5.
Middle class and up, as are all of these capped strength builds.
Notes: The most common build among strength capped builds. It’s nice, as it offers great defensive capabilities as well as a nice damage output.
IMO: I’m in love with capped Strength Builds, so I will definitely come off as biased. This is one of my favorites, and among capped Strength Builds, it’s teh most popular. It provided decent damage output, with a massive tanking outfit. To bring your damage up to speed, you may need to go a little higher than the same old Demol +12′s, Vigor +9′s.
Str: 45; (50 on occasion)
Stamina: XXX
Dex: 15
Int: 15
Equipment: Any knight set +3 or above, as well as a +5 weapon.
Higher middle class and up.
Notes: I’ve had the most experience with this build, as it’s the build I use. It requires a fair bit of money, as well as recommended upgraded vigors(more than +9).
IMO: I use this build. I love it. I use def piercings, I have more hp than some builds do when they have hp piercings. However, my damage is lacking, so I make up for it my Axe, and with upgraded Vigors and Demols(Higher than normal).
3. Skills [Skill]
Here I will describe the skills necessary for an AoE knight. They are in order from most important to least important, and a * means that’s it’s absolutely necessary to max it.
Power Stomp*
The AoE of a knight. A sword AoE will use Earth Divider, but this the better skill because: This one requires an axe. The axe gets better self buffs than the sword. This one aoe’s 360 degrees around, and it stuns, as well as a going slightly faster.
+100 Attack
Axe Mastery*
Again, it has a sword counterpart. +100 Damage. Yes. Absolutely necessary.
Smite Axe*
Not too much, but it’s nice to have. The def it adds is okay.
+50 Attack
+25 Defense
Rage*
GREAT SKILL. Reduces accuracy, but when it’s maxed, it’s a full 280 damage.
+280 Attack
-42% Accuracy
Guard*
Greatly increases defense at the cost of a loss in attack. Useful in conjunction with another skill.
+400 Defense
-100 Attack
Power SWING
An AoE with a cool down, but it knocks enemies away. Use with guard for great results.
Pain Reflector*
Reflects 50% of damage received. Not too bad. It could be better, nice for the extra damage, I suppose.
+50% Reflection of damage
All skill bonuses taken from a maxed skill.
Anyways, all the other skills are optional to take past the required level. Most don’t.
4. Equipment [Equips]
This section will address the armor necessary in an AoE knight, sorted in terms of classes, with a much better description of what each class is.
Lower class
Essentially the poor, but most classify themselves as this. They aren’t. This is for those who can BARELY afford sets. Most lower class knight shouldn’t even bother with Greens until level 90+.
At level 60: The Keimay/Keriphis set, as well as a Guardian Ambidextrous Axe if you can afford it or NPC Axe.
At level 75: The Warpon/Warspon set, as well as a Historic Ambidextrous Axe, if you can afford it, though an Npc Axe will work as well.
At level 90: Now you should have a decent amount of money so I recommend Wees/Weeshian and an Angels Ambidextrous Axe. HOWEVER, if you still lack money, you can keep Warpon.
At level 105: The Legendary Golden Big Axe, as well as a Knighert/Knighz Set.
Middle Class
The people in the middle. They should be able to afford to upgrade some stuff nicely. This is a very flexible place, middle class can be a lot, though for most, you fall here if you don’t buy Gpots, but you do have a main. REMEMBER, there is no problem with making a set higher than my recommended! Now, with the release of V12, you can awaken the CW suit, so it’s possible to get a very high def awaken. Using this, you can easily play with this suit all the way to 90.
At Level 60: Keimay/Keriphis SUIT as well as the other 3 parts from RECORN, all +3, and a Guardian Ambidextrous Axe +3.
At level 75: Warpon/Warspon +3, and a Historic Ambidextrous Axe +3.
At level 90: Wees/Weeshian +3, and an Angels Ambidextrous Axe +3.
At level 105: Knighert/Knighz +5, as well as a Legendary Golden Big Axe +5.
Upper Class
The rich. Short, sweet, simple. Those under this group can easily use the CW set, provided it’s upgraded until level 90!
At level 60: Keimay/Recorn +3-5, as well as a Guardian Ambidextrous Axe +3-5. As to the armor, there are some knights who use 3 parts of the Recorn and the Keimay SUIT. This is, from what I’ve tested, very effective, though you won’t look very good.
At level 75: Warpon/Warspon +3-5(+8 if you plan to skip Wees; that’s what I did), as well as a Historic Ambidextrous Axe +3-5
At level 90: Wees/Weeshian, +3-5 IF YOU REALLY WANT IT. I used Warpon +8 to 96, at which point my Knighert was reduced. If you don’t plan to reduce, use this set. Angels Ambidextrous Axe +3-5
At level 105: Knighert/Knighz +5 or better. As well as a Legendary Golden Big Axe +5 or higher.
This section is definitely due for an update very soon.
5. The AoE Process [TEP]
This is actually not all too complicated, and should be rather easy.
Step 1. Gather. Run around repeatedly clicking a mob, attacking it till it targets you, and targeting another mob. Repeat until desired mob amount is met. After level 60, it will take you some time to gain levels, so you should adjust yourself to the amount that you can and can’t take without dying. When entering a new leveling area, start small, so you can judge yourself, and continue from there.
Step 2. STOP. Guard if necessary, and then make sure your AoE attack is in the action slot. Now, use your action slot to kill the mobs. If the need arises, run way until your hp is nice again, and continue.
_Milly recommends: I recommend 3 power stomps, with the "classic build", green big axe for your level, and 2x(demol+12+vigor+9), you should easily take out your mobs 2-3 seconds after guard runs out.
You can trust what she says, as I have tried it, and it does work.
One rule of thumb for those on Azria, and those in the desert… If you aren’t food spamming, you aren’t taking enough mobs.
6. A few quick tips. [Tip]
1. Power Swing and Guard.
Use power swing to send the enemies away, and then use guard. It works very well, actually.
2. W, A, S, D and Spacebar
The very useful movement keys, they can get you out of some tight places, such as ones that are over populated by objects -cough mines cough-. If you’re on Azria, you might as well turn on Extended Camera at full. In other places however, this is pointless (such as the tower).
3.Power Swing during the gather
By using this while you gather, you not only shorten AoE time, but you may gather a few mobs.
7. Leveling Guide [Level]
Mercenary to Knight
I’m not entirely sure about this, because I was merc about a year ago. This is just out of my memory.
Level 15-18 – Bangs, with your stamina, this shouldn’t be a problem.
18-20 – The mutant feferns in the beginning of the Mas Mine.
21-23 – 2 choices… Mutant Nyangnayngs, or go to Mia’s in Saintmorning.
24-25 – Mutant Bangs or Jack The Hammer’s
26-30 – Giggle Boxes; FIRST GOOD PLACE FOR MONEY. IT’S AWESOME.
31-33 – Rock Muscles
33-35 – Hobo’s
36-37 – Totemia
38-40 – Cardpuppets
41-43 – Tombstoners, on the GARDEN OF RHISIS.
44-45 – Basques/Pranksters, also on the Garden of Rhisis
45-46 – Pranksters
47-48 – Leyena/Steam Walkers THEY’RE IN DARKON.
49-50 – Steel Knights
51-53 – Nutty Wheels
54-56 – Volts, I think that’s what they’re called.
57+ – Elderguardians, and Garbagespiders
I don’t much remember the job change, but a guide for it is found in the sticky.
KNIGHT LEVELING PLACES
REMEMBER: ALWAYS MAKE YOUR SUIT THE OPPOSITE ELEMENT. It reduces damage by 300, which is quite a lot, especially when you have multiple mobs all attacking you. However, if you are level 75 with say, a +8 Warpon/Warspon set that is 28% defense, you can element your suit the same element as the mob you’re taking, as it will cause some hits to be complete and total 0′s.
60-65 – Spam Slash/Keenwheel on Cranes.
66-67 – AoE Cranes
68-69 – Syliaca
70-71 – Mongs
There is an alternative spawn called Boo’s, out in Darkon 3. By using the map, you should be able to find a large, uhm, cluster of water pools. Boo’s are located there. They have a rather large spawn, making it easy to take 12.
72-75 – Here, you have a choice. If you have less stamina, go to carriers… there’s a nice spawn of captains very close darkon, if you take the first left turn on the flight out, only be at Carriers to 73. If you more stamina, GO TO MUSHIES.
Mushies are difficult, don’t try them without an FS, okay?
76-79 – If you can afford, go aoe Yetti’s in azria, if you can’t… go to Wata’s. Small Wata’s and Captain Wata’s only, here, the normal ones will plague you with ranged attacks. Here you may also find the Forsaken Tower to be good. Mobs in here hit very hard though, so be forewarned. I’m not very… informed on the lower levels of the Tower, so do a little exploring. The tower can be used all the way to level 120.
80-84 – AoE REGULAR Augu in Azria, or go to Tree’s, past 80. OR…. GO TO THE MINES AND AOE PINKIES/BLUES. I only recommend that for higher stamina builds, though. Remember to be respectful, and clean up after yourself before you leave. THAT MEANS GET THE NON AGRO LARVA!
85-90 – Stay at Tree’s/Pinkies if you really like it, or move to shums. This get’s a bit difficult here. If you’re on azria… Mutant Augu.
90+ Keep going in the tower. The area’s in Darkon 3 should only be used for quest items. THE TOWER HAS NEW MOBS EVERY TWO LEVELS. It should be pretty self explanatory on where to go!
91-96 – In the tower, kill the level 92′s until level 92, then move to the 94′s until 94, then go to the 96′s. This will be the tower patern for the rest of your life. In azria, princes all the way to 96.
97-105 – The tower level 98′s until 98, then the 100′s until 100, and then the 102′s, until 102, and then the 104′s until 104, then move to the 106′s. In azria, Kings.
105-111 – Go to Mammoths in azria. In the tower, 106′s to 106, 108′s to 108, 110′s to 110, and the go to the 112′s.
112-117 – In the tower, need I go on? You have to have the patern down by now >_>. In azria, Cannibal Mammoths.
117+ ASURAS IN THE TOWER. It is much better than Volkane, the Asura’s won’t crit you quite as hard, but they will still run at you like they have max Quick Step. They are wind elemented, so fire is a must. If you want, their is an area in the corner where your RM can stand while you gather, but this shouldn’t be necessary as you have Sneaker.
Conclusion
Yes, I am aware that couldiwin’s knight guide covers more info than mine, and in most cases better than mine, but I figured I’d make this one anyway. Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback regarding my guide, and this is always open for discussion. I do recommend constructive criticism, though keep in mind that I am a person, and as such, I do have feelings.
