Since so many people are asking about this, and I have not seen one yet, I thought that starting one common thread about mentoring/apprenticing and appending to it as more information comes in would be good. This is mainly observations at the moment, but I’ll clean it up and improve as I gain information. If any of you have any tidbits, please post here, and I’ll add it and give you credits.
First off, here’s CO’s official rules:

As an aside, to better understand the mentoring scoring, I started looking at other TQ games to see if I could gain further insight. The eudemons and Crazy Tao systems seem to have some similarities with the Conquer system and quite a few thing that don’t match, but imo more information is better than none. XD

Second. Potency.
No equation as to how potency is shared between mentor and apprentice exists. I’ve started experimenting, and am starting to see a pattern.
Until we figure out all the details about calculating the potency share, here are 2 equations that can calculate your potency within 1 point in most cases.
I have two theories right now that can support both situations.
One is in relation to the levels of the mentor versus the apprentice and their rb status. (I hope it’s not this one, but I can’t throw it away yet.) The other if there is a large potency differential.
((Mentor pot-apprentice pot)/3) + apprentice pot = new apprentice pot

((Mentor pot-apprentice pot)/4) + apprentice pot = new apprentice pot
Multiple credits. (Note to self need to add actual names.)
Note: If your mentor is an apprentice as well, the extra pot gained from that mentor does not transfer/calculate/figure into the potency calculation.
Third. Experience Gain.
It’s definitely subject to the level of the apprentice and that the apprentice must get the exp on their own. Also, the higher the level, the higher the exp ball credits you gain.
The mentor will not gain experience if:
1) The apprentice is just plvling or whenever they get team exp.
2) If they are leveling leveling in TG. Credits to Toraz & Deathsbane for this info. I have confirmed this as well.
The mentor will gain experience if:
1) The apprentice uses an exp ball. Credits to Deathsbane for this info.
2) Whenever the apprentice is leveling on their own.
3) You do the demonhunter 120+ quest. Credits to ~DTC~ for this info. When the char cashed in for the 5 exp balls, the mentor got 0.5 exp ball points.
Note: It appears that mentors gain experience from apprentices even though they are not online, while apprentices only gain potency if the mentor is online. Credits to Tide. for this information.
The mentor will also gain experience from their apprentice’s apprentice at a rate of 1/10. For example if you have a mentor and you have an apprentice, if your apprentice gives you 0.1 exp balls of credit, your mentor will get 0.01 exp balls. This applies to levels 120+.
For reference purposes here is the expball % Gained/Level Guide (it has missing data still)

I’ve made all the warriors I’m farming apprentices to my main, and I’ll be experimenting over the next few weeks and post my results.
For example:
Going from lvls 113 to 116 my main got 4.59 exp balls of exp.
Preliminary Equations to calculate how many exp balls a mentor gets:
Here is my preliminary results as to how many exp balls you get from 1-120. (I still have some very minor rounding errors, but I’m, not going to worry about it too much)
LEVEL 1-120
Based on exp gain.
x=Apprentice exp gained
y=25,200,000 exp constant
Mentor exp balls = ((x/y)0.8)/10
There are two equations that I use to calculate how you gain exp above level 120.
EQUATION #1:
Based on if you use exp balls or do quests that give your exp ball equivalents.
Mentor exp balls = apprentice exp ball/10
This equation seems to be fairly accurate for levels 120+.
EQUATION #2
Based on exp gain. (Preliminary might need a lot more tweaking.)
x=Apprentice exp gained
y=25,200,000 exp constant (I’ll likely need to fine tune this number, but it appears to work for mentor chars in the range of lvl 126 to 130.)
Mentor exp balls = ((x/y)0.8)/10
Fourth + stone points
The site says that you gain points from your apprentices finding +1 items.
NOTE: If an apprentice of yours gets a +1 drop, you and your mentor will get 0.01 stone points!
Current theory:
Somehow the server knows when a +1 is dropped and gives you credit for it w/o picking it up… (I thought that +’s were not determined though until you picked them up…)
It looks like this is the theory. Based on information I got from ImotepFaith. They mentored their archer under a water tao. By scanning the mentor window, whenever they saw the points go up, they picked up everything in sight. Out of the four times they did it, they got 4 +1 items. I have tried this as well and it works great. This of course works best when you are hunting in small areas, since BI is a veritable minefield of items….
Fifth: Bless time.
This one seems like there is only one way to get it, and that is if your apprentice uses a bless stone.
Currently proven that a small bless stone which gives 3 days heaven’s blessing to the user will give 3 hours to the mentor. Credits to Toraz for this information.
Currently proven that a medium bless stone, which gives 7 days heaven’s blessing to the user will give 8 hours to the mentor. Credits to auwana for this information.
Currently proven that a large bless stone, which gives 30 days heaven’s blessing to the user will give 36 hours to the mentor. Credits to Endet for this information.
Credits go to Red Or Green.
